View Full Version : When you guys read posts, do you read with your own voice or invent voices?

I usually make a voice in my head corresponding to that person, rather than use my own voice when reading a post. For example, if a person is known for being tough and intimidating. I usually make up a manly deep voice when reading his posts. If someone is known for being silly, I usually assign a teenage voice for him/her. If someone comes off as nerdy, I usually imagine him talking in a nasal nerdyish voice. Just a thought ^^

I read yours in a squeaky voice.

I didn't read them in voices until Tadao changed to Hyacinth; now I read his posts in Hyacinth's voice and that can be a little fucked-up sometimes.

I don't remember who it was but they had this excellent Paul Lynde avatar and they were on this laissez-faire economics kick and the voice in my head always made it hilarious to read.

I read everyone's posting in my voice - I don't know what anyone on this board sounds like. Except for one individual ....

Sacks is one of those guys I read in a rough smoker deep voice.

I don't read in voices unless I am speaking outloud.

I hear everyone's voice as my own voice, but I visualize everyone as their avatars.

For example, though I know what Tadao looks like, I currently read all of his posts while seeing him as a lady in a fantastic hat.

I read Willie's posts in the same voice that I read Roast Beef's dialogue. The rest of you get less famous voices.

i make girly voices cause i think you are all pussys except chojin i do a manly one for him cause i wanna be like him :(

I read post based on the content. For example, proper grammar and punctuation and polysyllabic words force me to read the post in a gentleman's voice.

A lack thereof makes me sort of run words together and not make a voice at all.

WHEN I READ MODERATOR MILHOUSES' POSTS IT SOUNDS LIKE A DEAD MONTH OLD FETUS ESCAPING FROM A LADIES DOWNSTAIRS AREA >:

EDIT: When I read Sam's posts it sounds like a turd slowly escaping a butt >:

I don't associate voices with other people's text unless I either A: Know the person in real life, or B: They're a character or just someone I can "invent" a voice for.

For instance, probably not true, but I picture Esuohlim speaking like Milhouse (a given), while someone like Willie probably sounds like a chainsaw with vocals.

And from way back when, I kinda figured Jixby Phillips had a voice like Mark Hamill's for some reason.

Usually I assign voices based on the poster's avatar, but If it's weird and I don't know where it's from, I usually hear it in Bobcat Goldthwait's voice.

Maybe I'll record my voice and link it.

Only sometimes, I was going to stop and see you guys on the way there except I couldn't remember if you were from Col or Cin. Also it was 3AM. We were going to a Hooters in Columbus but when we got there someone turned it into a "Scorpion Cafe" so we ate at White Castle instead.

You can have fun in Ohio if you know where to look.

Between Dayton and Cincinnati, on I-75, there's all kinds of fun stuff. There are two mammoth flea markets, one on either side of 75. One got busted last year for fake purses and reopened under new ownership with a pirate theme. There's a Hustler Hollywood store (in Ohio?) on the same exit. Right before that exit is Big Butter Jesus (http://www.roadsideamerica.com/story/9786). If you're brave enough to dodge traffic, it's fashionable to get a photo of yourself giving Jesus a high-five.

Go on south on 75 and there's a nifty aquarium, complete with pimp-lounge themed jellyfish display, a ginormous zoo, and the most fantastic place on the planet (http://www.junglejims.com). Right across the border in Kentucky is the notorious Creation Museum.

Head north of Dayton on 75 for about 40 minutes and there's some lesser-known neat stuff. In Lima there's a plastics factory that has a huge thrift store on premises. It's toned down a little bit, but in the day you could buy just about anything they ever made. About 3 years ago I walked off with a bunch of trash cans, various small things and a brand new Double Dare lunch box with thermos for less than $10.

About 10 mins north of that is the Neil Armstrong Air and Space Museum, which is remarkable for being "space age" and completely dated at the same time. The in-house movie excitedly describes plans for the new space station called "Skylab".

And that's just on the I-75 north-south route, about 2 hours from one end to the other.

:lol I was looking over at the jungle jims link and I thought it was a whole store of jungle juice.

I'll let you know next time we're in the area, might be a while though.
