Is anyone here involved in any way, shape, or form with sketch comedy? Just watching doesn't count.

Whose Line isn't sketch comedy. >:

I don't watch sketch comedy, but I think about it from time to time. Does that count?

I was in a pro Skecth comedy troupe in Boston in the late eighties, "The Other White Meat". Several folks at I-mock saw one of our reunion shows in NYC about two years ago.

Why do you ask?

Jix, do you write for a troupe? That's how I started. I couldn't get into one of the established comedy troupes at Emerson because my acting style was too over the top, but Emerson Comedy Worshop (Jay Leno's old troupe) took some of my writting. This is pathetic (Dave Cross's old Troupe) were too cool and coked up to talk to me most of the time, though John Ennis was really nice to me and tried to get me in (and tried to get David to sit down and write with me, but he never would and thought it was hysterical to pretend he'd never met me each time he met me unless he wasn't pretending which is sad because I might have some money now if things had worked out differently) .

I ended up forming my own troupe with people who split off of both groups for one reason or another AND THE REST IS HISTORY!!!

I don't write for anybody but myself because there's literally NO comedy in my city.

And I have very little stuff that I actually have FULLY written, like I usually just collect ideas or write extensive outines to the point where I can tell myself I COULD write it out in script form or maybe shoot it as a filim and improvise diologue, or whatever if I wanted or needed to. Of the stuff I've actually written out it was usually because I was actually going to perform them for whatever reason the next day.

I've been involved with a few comedy sketches with my school. They weren't really funny, though. But we tried our bests. :o

Why do you wanna know, Studio8?

Oops, I forgot I started this thread.
I asked because I'm trying to get something like a sketch comedy "workshop" off the ground - I couldn't find another one online so I thought I would attempt to provide one. It's proving to be difficult, so I thought I would pose the question here.
Thoughts?

I drew a picture of a lady saying, "My husband makes a good fire." And the husband is screaming because he's on fire and the lady is warming herself on her charred husband.

Jixby wrote comedy for I-Mockery once. It was a mystical time in a land far, far away... :o
