He coaxes the women to take off their shoes so he can get a closer look at their stockings and then sucks their toes, he said.

He last struck a week ago today at a hotel in this St. Louis suburb. His latest victim, a woman in her 40s, ran into her hotel room and shut the door after he put her toes in his mouth, Delia said.

"He was banging on the door and wanted to finish the job," Delia said.

Faces misdemeanor charges

As many as a dozen women called investigators in response to news coverage of that incident to say they have had similar experiences, Eagan said.

Some of the assaults occurred in office buildings, and others took place outside of grocery stores, he said.

It appears the same man is responsible for all of the incidents, Delia said.

"I'm not sure we have a lot of toe-suckers running around," he said.

The foot-fondler likely would be charged with misdemeanor assault punishable by up to a year in the county jail, Delia said.
