What are eveyone's feelings on the horizontal elevators ... like at airport concourses. Am I wrong or aren't they a device designed to speed your walk and not merely one to throw your bag down and ride because you're too lazy to walk. Caught off guard and running late for a flight one time, I was almost missed it altogether because the fella that got on just before me took a few steps onto the conveyer belt, plopped his bags down and then proceeded to sit on them. Hesitant at first but worried about the schedule, I looked at my watch so that he saw me do it, stepped up the courage, and pushed on past him in the little space that was available and said excuse me. He had the nerve to looked annoyed at ME. I would have said something back but I was already late and really didn't have time to worry about his feelings anyway.

So did I. When i was real little, I mis-stepped getting on and went a tumbin' down. Even though I usually have better cordination now then I did when I was 3 I still hesitate a little before stepping on one.

i would trade a week of my life to see somone suckd into and escalator by their shoelace. i almost did once it happened on that BIGASS escalator at West Edmonton mall that leads up to the Huge "Silver City" it tore about 2/3rds of my shoelace out before it gave then when we came back out it was stopped and we had to use the stairs (I think its coincedential) Escalators are funner than stairs.

Another amusing West-ED moment was when i was going up an escalator next to some stairs there was a fat guy and I was keeping pace with him standing still stairing at him whilst he waddled his fat ass up.

in london if you are going to stand on an escalator you stand to the one side (i think it's the right). that way there is a nice clean moving stairway for all of the busy bodies who need to get to where they are going fast.

You will never see a "temporarly out of order" sign on an escalator.
