My dad rented Yellow Submarine on VHS today. It's an animated movie starring the Beatles. It is so fucking weird that it makes Being John Malkovich look normal. I can't believe how bizzare this movie was. You'd have to see it to believe it to see how goddamn wierd it was. Even wierd would say this movie was wierd.

The animation resembles that of Monty Python. The animation is pretty amazing for a movie made in the late 60's. I think it was supposed to be like an acid trip or something. There's all kinds of wierd creatures and shit like a monster that sucks everything up, including itself.

I think the Blue Meanies are supposed to be the government or "The Man." When they attack Pepperland or whatever its called, it's a metaphor for the government's extreme dislike for the hippie movement and all the stuff they did to try to stop the hippies. I have absolutely no fucking idea what the stuff in between attack of Pepperland and when the beatles get to Pepperland means. When the beatles play music to unfreeze the people of Pepperland, it's a metaphor for something like "free your mind with music and/or drugs" or "the government can't take your music nd/or freedom away" or "you're free as long as you have your music and/or drugs."

Some the lines like "It must be very tiring being time because time works 24 hours a day" cracked me up. This movie just confused the shit out of me. I'm not a Beatles fan, and I loved this movie.

I've also never seen any other Beatles movies.

EDIT: oh, and that Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds song was about LSD.

The Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds idea is a very popular misconception. It is NOT about LSD, actually. One of the Beatle's (I forget which) son drew a picture of some lady with a lot of jewelry and bright twinkly things around her. When asked by his father what the picture was of, he said it was Lucy in the sky with diamonds.

And now you know...the rest of the story. Good day! :paulharvey

EDIT: the unknown Beatle was Paul, by the way. I just asked my dad.

If I have enough alone time, I might smoke a joint or eat some special brownies and watch it.

Yah, you want some crazy trippy shit, check out Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, the book or the movie. The book is a very quick read and does it's good part to make you think about the potential dangers and experiences that are involved with serious use of mind altering drugs (and when I say serious, I mean SERIOUS, these guys carry a portable pharmacy in a suitcase with enough drugs to knockup a bull elephant, and they gobble the shit up in the process of about THREE DAYS), and the movie is a fucking riot.

It was John, and that story is a crock of shit.

I don't really know either. It just sounds like a total load of bull to me... especially coming from the guy who said the name "the beatles" came to him in a dream. I'm a huge beatles and Lennon fan, I just think some of his stories are full of crap

I never heard about the name coming to him in a dream, but they named themselves that because of the Crickets.
