I'm looking forward to a new MST3K movie. I HEARD JOEL IS BACK!

I wish they'd make a new MST3K movie. The entire cast and crew wants to continue and there's a huge mass of fans who'd go nuts for it. Hmm, I could write a movie script for it...

I never liked Joel as much as Mike. Even when he came back for the one episode in season 10 I was still kinda meh.
Looking forward to Quantum of Solace!

It took a long time for me to get used to Mike. Joel told jokes along my line of nostalgia. Yeah Mike wrote jokes the whole time the show aired, but I think Joel had the major ruling on what was said by the Host.
BTW ZQ, how do you even get 1/4 of the jokes? You must have had cool parents that introduced you to cool stuff.

Yeah, my parents are pretty cool like that. They usually will explain stuff I don't get to me. And a lot of times it's the delivery of the jokes that I find funny.
And I like Mike a tad better, only because he was the first I saw (I started with the movie).

Word. And the heck of it is, it's not impossible. The cast and crew still want to do it and there's a really large fanbase. If only Sci-Fi would pick it up again. T_T

Apparently Mike Nelson is keeping his making-fun-of-movies muscle exercised by doing RiffTrax. The sample on their website (from 300) is pretty funny.

I heard of that. Seeing as MST3K was shut down, the cast and crew moved on to several shows that seem to be virtually the same, but with different names.

Well, Watchmen, obviously. But it's not so much "looking forward to" as waiting in Zack Snyder's backyard with a two-by-four and a generally unstable disposition should the movie be anything less than 50% as fantastic as the source material.
Don't judge. You're gonna be right there with me and you know it.
Other than that, probably that dragonball movie. Not because I don't despise the show for its utter mediocrity and reliance on stereotypes (this is in retrospect of course, we were all kids once), but because the trailer seems to promise a pretty decent action flick with some fancy special effects. And if the damn flick does a decent job with that, I can walk in to the theatre with the same expectations as I did walking into Episode II and III, and walk out with the same sense of superficial satisfaction.
Really, if the special FX guys pull of that giant hand-laser beam thingy, 's good enough for me.

Of course it is, Steve. Although it's tendancy towards fascination no doubt pales in comparison to the fascination induced by the "fobbiden coulors" that your love no doubt wears.

i gotta rewatch them though. also, anyone notice the tagline for 5 is "how will it all end?" or whatever, yet saw 6 is already confirmed :rolleyes

It's the closest thing we're probably ever going to get. I mean, I figured they'd change stuff up- like V for Vendetta, Constantine, Wanted, and every comic-book adaptation. It's a different medium, you know? I'll still go watch as long as they cover the major bases.
Guitar Woman
Oct 26th, 2008, 06:02 PM
I really think that if something was made specifically for the medium it's presented in, i.e. Watchmen, you really shouldn't try to translate it to a different one.
By way of comparison, imagine if they tried to make film versions of Eternal Darkness, or Killer 7, or Silent Hill 2. They'd be complete fuck ups, wouldn't they?

Hollywood has done a much better job translating comics/graphic novels to film than they have video games. I understand where you're coming from, but it's going to be sweet to see the big set pieces from the book on the screen.
