No one thought he was funny. We found him tragic. Like Shakespeare with Lupus.

He never attempted humor, but spent most of his time on the forums sharing his drawings and coloring books. I took pity on the young man, the way I take pity on people with spina bifida or other retardedness.

I visited him once when I was living in SoCal. He was at San Abispo's Childrens Psychiatric Center, and when I signed in I was instructed not to use big words when I talked to him. Basically I had to address him the way I would speak to a puppy. They gave me a chew toy, and I danced with the idea he would be insulted.

Evidently the nurse saw the look on my face and comforted me. "He's pretty gone, sir. It's okay."

I was temporarily relived. I wanted to see my friend. I wanted to laugh with him and recall stories about stories we posted on I-Mockery. I wanted to touch his beard, and I wanted to tell him secrets, and show him pictures of us that I digitally manipulated so it looked like we were both eating ribs at Chili's.

With the nurse's guidance I entered his room, chew toy grasped tightly in my outstretched arm. As soon as I crossed the threshold she slammed the door behind me. I heard the clicking sounds of locks, then a high-pitched muttering from underneath his hospital bead.

"Jixby?" I spoke softly.

"Are you here big guy? It's McClain. From I-Mockery."

As I peered down under the bed I caught my own reflection in a puddle of his urine. The puddle was growing so I knew that he was still releasing. Was he scared of me?

"I've got a chew toy for ya', boy!" I said. As I dangled the toy his arm darted out from underneath the bed and snatched the chewtoy, completely removing my index finger in the process.

I fell to my back on the floor and started screaming, wincing in pain. My face was hot and I couldn't believe what just happened. As I took my attention off of my bloody, mangled mitt, I saw him lightly licking the exposed portion of my removed digit, similar in manner to the way someone might put their tonge on a 9v battery. Every time he tasted the flesh his head would jolt back and he'd make a funny face.

"What the hell are you doing?" I screamed at him.

Wearing only his hospital gown and his backside explosed, he took my finger between his index finger and his thumb, then slowly worked it in his anus while staring at me.

I slowly pushed myself toward the door, watching as my fingernail was getting all poo-ey. "Not sanitary!" I kept thinking. "Not sanitary!"
