You got that right. All of my hipster friends in college played the shit out of it and then would go home, pop in the Big Lebowski, and get high.

I thought frisbee football was the college sport of choice for college layabouts?

That was the case at my A.M. - it was called "ultimate frisbee" and the "players" were all variations on the same general theme - stoner, and/or drunk, and/or on the 8-year plan.

The same layabouts also had a disc golf course, but it was a "secret" and only those select few junkies knew where each and every "hole" was.

In northern California this was very popular. They had some tricky courses in the redwoods. I never played but was slightly interested in it.
