I guess Fox had to free up space for The Cleveland Show. I sort of figured it was only a matter of time once they killed off Cotton. Never the funniest show, but always enjoyable. Hopefully Mike Judge has something else up his sleeve.

Sarah Palin reminds me of Peggy Hill. At least there'll be another season.
Hopefully Mike Judge has something else up his sleeve.

Me too. Fuck you, Tadao. Mike Judge is a really funny guy and usually has some pretty good ideas. Seth McFarlane, on the other hand...

AND FOLLOWS THE EXACT SAME FORMULA AND EXACT SAME NUMBER OF CHARACTERS WITH ALMOST THE EXACT SAME PERSONALITIES AND IS ALL AROUND NOT VERY CREATIVE AND HE SHOULD STOP DOING SO MANY VOICES ON HIS SHOWS
Okay, tadao, let's see how any of this fits a mike judge cartoon.
Same formula - Judge has two cartoons. Beavis and Butt-Head follow the exact same formula? Two teenagers watching music videos and going around doing dumb shit is the same as hank hill, his family, neighbors, and friends dealing with (mostly) real-life situations? That's just wrong. Stupid too!
Same number of characters - As I said, beavis and butt-head had two main characters and like five supporting characters who were used from time to time and never all in the same episode. King of the Hill has about eight characters that you see every episode and a lot of other ones that show up and have major interactions with the main characters and storyline.
Same personalities - Do I even need to explain this?
A lot of voices - He does two main character voices on king of the hill: Hank and Boomhauer. He also voices that redhead kid who's in maybe 15 episodes total. Seth Mcfarlane voices stewie, peter, and brian. That's half of the main cast right there. Also voices at least half of the other male characters on the show. Alex Borstein does the rest :x
Yeah, the similarities are staggering!

ALSO MIKE JUDGE HAS TWO POPULAR LIVE ACTION MOVIES OUT. Office Space is a classic and idiocracy was pretty good.

Seth MacFarlane is a horrible guy and pretty much anything ever is better than stuff he does.
Even if I didn't like King of the Hill I'd still think it's better than Family Guy.
The Cleveland Show does not deserve to exist in any shape or form.

Seth McFarline is slowly replacing every show on fox. Soon Stewie and Brian will be starring in Bones.

I have to say that while I agree that Seth Mcfarlane is about as funny as a bag of dicks, he has an awesome singing voice.

To be Fair American Dad isn't THAT much like Family Guy. Family guy is just a string of references whereas American Dad actually has storylines and jokes.
Cavalcade of Comedy is really terrible though.

I'm getting sick of all the people that compare American Dad to Family Guy and it happens in every thread about US Comedy cartoons. I hate Family Guy and I love American Dad. I think that most of the people that claim this are rather narrow minded when the name "Seth McFarlane" comes up. Thanks a bunch to Trey and Matt, this generation's answer to John Kricfalusi!

King of the Hill was fantastic. It is an intelligent, well written and subtle show. It managed to be funny whilst adhering to the rules of reality, which is an increasing rarity in modern television. I don't understand anyone who says it's "depressing." That's horrifying.

Morel Orel is depressing and great. King of the Hill (for me) was depressing and not funny or interesting. I just don't find that culture funny or interesting, just depressing. What I think doesn't really matter if others like it. :emo

I would just be interested to know what's so depressing about it. I find this argument with music often, where people claim that entire genres of music are unworthy because they are "depressing." I just don't understand that as a valid argument unless it's expanded upon.
The best comedy is rooted in negativity and, more specifically, in the negative aspects of society that it is seeking to fix. Jokes are essentially therapy, for coping with and understanding the world around us. King of the Hill is fantastic because it so fiercely remains inside it's own world.

I always felt that Cavalcade of Comedy is what Seth seems best at. Its basically Family Guy without the cast and bad plot. However I've only seen about two and I just get the idea that hes more funny in 30 second jokes than a 30 minute episode consisting of 30 second jokes. I do enjoy American Dad thou and it really isn't like Family Guy at all like you mentioned

I can explain it quite succinctly, actually. Bland, beer-slugging White Trash folk aren't funny. Bobby was hapless, the slutty sister was tragic, the mother was boring and the father was wholly uninteresting. The neighbors were niche and lackluster.
It's the kind of show you find when you turn on your television at 3:00 am and it's the only program that isn't an infomercial. Given the choice, I'd rather see someone hawking solar toaster ovens.

Their blandness was what was funny about it. And incidentally, Mr. Anderson had some of the funniest moments in Beavis & Butthead, and he was practically the same character as Hank.
I watched an episode a few weeks ago where they were celebrating their wedding anniversary and Hank makes a video dedicated to Peggy called "20 Years of Great Service." Nothing I've heard since then has been as funny.

The only joke I remember from King of the Hill is one where Hank is rifling through letters and he says,
"Bills, bills, bills...honey, why do we keep getting Bill's mail?"
I laughed hard at that and never watched again.
