I had to give my wife a shot when she was pregnant. It was horrible for me... I didn't know how much pressure to apply or how quickly to push. And when the needle finally poked through the skin I could feel the "pop" of punctured skin resonate through my entire being. I felt horrible.
I don't mind needles at all. I give blood often. Have quite a few tats. But the thought of doing it to someone else makes me squeamish.

oh man the intramuscular syringes we have are too cheap or are not designed to be used with drugs suspended in oils or something because after the ridiculously long 1 inch needle is inserted into the person you have to like PUT ALL OF YOUR STRENGTH INTO THE INJECTION or it won't work. I'm always afraid it will explode or break or something ;/

Kahljorn, those syringes could have very small gague needles (diameter), wich thicker liquids may not be able to pass through easily. A even a single blood cell is almost too large to pass through a twenty guage (yellow cap) needle. I can't think of any other reason it would be so difficult.
I love sticking needles into people for some reason, especially when those people with really large veins come in, it feels like christmas.

Hey, I used to get to do that! :D
I remember when I was getting my cert to give TB tests. We went through the big long PowerPoint BS, and then it was time to pair up and practice injecting each other with saline (most people weren't used to dermal injections).
There was this one nurse in her sixties who picked up a syringe and her hand was shaking so hard you could see it wobble in the air. Everyone else was like, "I have a partner!" So I took her :/
She wasn't that bad, it was only a little blood.

Represent.
I'm looking forward to giving them. I've seen some pretty good reactions so far.
