BUT WHY? D:
It's so awesome the gas prices are so low. I filled my tank for 20 dollars the other day. And really, it seems like the best way to stimulate the economy to me. I went and spent money at shopping places :O I CAN ACTUALLY TRAVEL FOR FUN.
But at the same time I find myself asking WHY THE FUCK were the prices almost five dollars a gallon for so long and then were suddenly dropped to 2 dollars a gallon? is it a joke, like, Hey, we were obviously fucking you and here's what it's like not to have that dick in your ass. It's easy to pull out!

partially because people stopped buying so much gas.
It'll go back up soon I'm sure.

Such is the whim of the economy.
To quote Lewis Black: "No one knows what's going on with the economy! It goes up, it goes down, it goes up, it goes down and no one knows why the F&*^ it happens! I know because I took economics in college and I'd explain it to you, but I failed that course. Not my fault. They taught it at 8:00 in the morning and there is nothing in this world that can be taught through one bloodshot eye."

cause the banks are not loaning tons of cash to asshole oil speculators who drove up the cost of oil, plus if the oil industry murders the retail industry in the two months that the retailers actually make a profit there will be no golden goose to kick around next year cause hardly anyone will have any particular place to go.

OPEC wants to keep the price of oil just low enough that it isn't profitable for the US to produce it's own energy. It costs around $90 per barrel to squeeze oil out of shale so as long as oil costs just less then that, arabs will get the money and not the Canadians.

about time someone did something to force those canadian bastards to institute Total Quality Management and produce oil for less.

Thank you. :)
I love Black. He's one of my favorites on Comedy Central.

My main reasoning behind it is:
Bush's friends realized his final term was up about a year ago, jacked up the prices so they can squeeze as much out as possible. Now that he won't be president much longer they realized someone else won't stand for it.
My city has the highest gas prices in the country for some reason and I don't like it one bit.

10K, is this a typo? I thought the record for gas in the US was set over the summer at around $4.11 (nationwide average price) with local variation in the mid 5's. $2.68 I can believe, although that's still pretty high.

Oh, wow. Yeah, that's a typo. I meant $2.68. I haven't gotten much sleep lately and work right now is draining me.

It's too bad lifting the ban on offshore drilling wouldn't matter too much, as most of the oil that is being drilled right now is already purchased and accounted for over the many years to come.

That's nothing. I filled up my tank on less than $20! First time in over a year.
All good things will come to an end, however....

Wow! Less than $20. I could probably do that if gas drops below $1/gal.

Even though gas prices are dipping wayyy low, Upstate is still more expensive than most of the country. It's $1.97 where I am right now, $2.09-$2.15 where I am during the week. My father was in Texas, and he says it's $1.50 a gallon there.
I still think it's important to find alternatives, because I'm not confident this will last long.
