Anyone else looking forward for this one?

Warzone should be completely different from the 2004 version. The plot will be heavily influenced by Ennis' stories, like the 2004 film, featuring many characters by Ennis, such as Detective Soap, Nicky Cavella the Gnucci family etc. However, this film is supposed to be more loyal to Ennis' stories. The film is also supposed to be going with the MAX style, giving the movie R-rating, which should be self-explanatory in a Punisher movie.

Ray Stevenson looks much better as Punisher than Tom Jane. I'm also looking forward for Wayne "Officer Don Orville" Knight's portrayal of Microchip and Dominic West's of Jigsaw.

Here's the trailer for those of you who haven't seen it yet:

When I went to see the 2004 version of the Punisher I was expecting it to be over the top ridiculously terrible a la Lundren Punisher. I thought the '04 version was awesome. I am looking forward to Warzone because of it's gaurenteed over-the-topness.

'04 version was good, but I was slightly dissapointed with it being just another typical pop corn action movie. I was waiting it to be darker, and somehow the film's portrayal of Punisher was a bit too "heroic". Jane was ok as Punisher

When I first heard about it I was dreading its release, but now I'm actually looking forward to it. I think Stevenson can pull off a convincing Frank Castle.

RAY STEVENSON IS FINE, BUT HE IS NO DOLPH LUNDGREN.

:rolleyes

But seriously, this movie looks very Punisher-y and I hope I love it. :(

I caught a glimpse of Jigsaw in the newest Punisher Warzone TV spot. The makeup looked kinda cheesy, but I guess I'll withhold judgement until I get a better look.

I thought Tom Jane LOOKED more like the punisher but felt to goody goody. Whereas Ray Stevenson FEELS more like the punisher. All in all I think Stevenson is going to make a better punisher just because I think he has the attitude and the act down solid for it. That and I think Jigsaw is going to be a much more interesting villain. Cant wait.

Tom Jane looked like the Punisher?

No way, man. Jane had a decent enough voice for the Punisher, but he had none of the physical presence. Stevenson, on the other hand, has a much better build, along with the slicked-back black hair. Whether or not he can pull off the actual attitude, we'll see.

I'm strangely looking forward to this movie. The last one was so crummy, and this one looks like it could be pretty cheesy (the trailer ends with him aiming a tiny crossbow at the camera?), but I'm still looking forward to it for some reason. But then there's lines like this:

"Sometimes I'd like to get my hands on God."

Ugh.

I think the picture on the left of Tom Jane as the Punisher is a bad one for comparison though. He looks more like John Travolta.

He looks like an aging member of the trenchcoat mafia. I went with that one because it shows how scrawny he really is.

Ok, some reviews are out already.

Punisher: War Zone received negative reviews from film critics. On the film review aggregate website Rotten Tomatoes, the film received a 16% approval rating, based on 25 reviews, with an average rating of 3.8/10. Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun-Times awarded the film two out of four stars, writing that the film's only flaw is "that it's disgusting" (many other critics agreed as well that the film is gory and brutally violent). Some critics have praised Ray Stevenson's performance as the Punisher saying that it's the best to date

if you're the person who laughs and applauds at the sight of an old lady's head being turned into a smoking, meaty crater, you're going to fucking love Punisher: War Zone.

seems this might be one of those movies that is panned by critics only because most of them don't seem to be into action films. :/

Let me know how you feel about the movie if/when you've seen it.

Well... In that picture your right. Stevenson does look more like the middle picture. However thats not really the punisher I remember from comics. Im guessing thats a newer incarnation? I think the reason I thought he looked more the part was the hair. The punisher I remember had more hair? Or maybe didnt keep it so slicked back?

That's not the shirt Tom Jane wore in the movie.

They're making the new Punisher based off the MAX series, hence the new 'do and the added gore.

With the exception of not wearing the skull t-shirt, I think Dolph Lundgren actually looked the most like the Punisher as drawn by John Romita back in the day.

I would like to go on record that I love this shitty, shitty movie

Highlights include every single actor hamming it up to a level not seen since the Vincent Price flicks, shitty heavy metal music, the the acrobatic Jamaican meth freak whose feigned Rasta voice was so terrible that it occasionally sounded Scottish, and the Punisher literally punching someone's face in

I'm with Grislygus. It's not my favorite terrible movie, but it's still entertaining. So much painfully bad acting in one movie, so many terrible accents, and nobody said anything.

Ray Stevenson has stated that he'd love to continue as Punisher and has suggested that Barracuda would be the next villain.

How did you guys like Stevenson's performance? I haven't seen the film yet, but after seeing the trailers I'm still convinced that he's pretty much the perfect Punisher.

I'm still waiting for a weekly spotlight :(

Dr. Boogie

I thought he was great as the Punisher. Much better than everyone else in the movie.

I did a weekly for the movie, but we're holding it until after Christmas.
