I'm pretty sure it's just some plot twist where everyone thinks Bruce is dead and eventually he makes an epic return.

Seriously, would DC kill Bruce Wayne? Wouldn't bet on that.

Batman Not Killed Off In Comic

28 November 2008 8:02 AM, PST
D.C. Comics bosses have dismissed rumours Batman is to be killed off in their popular comic book, insisting reports of the crime-fighting superhero's demise have been blown out of proportion.
Rumours the Caped Crusader would meet a grisly end began circulating the internet earlier this week (begs24Nov08) after D.C. Comics executives announced the latest strip would be titled, Batman, R.I.P.: Conclusion.
But while the story ends on a cliffhanger, executive editor Dan Didio (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0225814/) insists Batman will return.
Didio tells the New York Daily News, "He's not dead, though he'll definitely be gone for a while.
"Batman and (alter ego) Bruce Wayne have been here long before me, and they'll be around long after me."

To quote (loosely) a character from "Agents of HATE", Superheros come back to life more than Jesus.

Oh man, I have been hearing about this for a while now. The local comic book store had a flyer in the window about it. And the patrons were having heated discussions when we walked inside. "Could it be true? No, he's just in limbo, man."

Just a way to get us tools to buy more stuff, I'm sure.

They actually did kill off Superman once. Needless to say, it was reversed somehow.

Dan Didio

I read that as Dan Dildo. :lol

but really, if they did kill off Batman, they could easily reverse it, maybe with some kind of robotic bat-Doppleganger.

They could make it that he:

*Did not actually die, but somehow limped out and had to heal.

*Survived but lost his memory.

*Did die, but comes back to life through some weird magic/science/ritual.

*Wasn't actually killed (it was a clone or robot).

*The "death" was a hallucination or trick of some sort.

Lazarus Pit.

That would actually be really interesting and would make sense. They would need to have a few pages of him going crazy though.

How could Batman become crazier than he already is.

And someone else will probably take up the mantle for a few issues/story arc before Bruce Wayne is back.

Isn't that exactly what happened when Bane killed him that one time and Azrael became a nutzo robot bat?

Yeah, but someone else in the regular time. Not some future time when genetic splicing is considered a trend.

This one isn't about Batman, this is X-men. But it's still about comic book charicters dieing and coming back.
