No, it was the WORST animated version of Batman ever. Ugly characters, shitty voices, terrible writing, hateable characters, and was just a slap in the face to those who grew up with TAS

Bitch about The Batman, and get on with the Brave and the Bold.
Also, I personally think TAS sucked ass. I can't stand the character interpretation. Joker isn't nearly insane enough, the Penguin is STILL stupid, and that's the second lamest Freeze I've ever seen, next to the Arnie one.

Siegfried and Roy: Masters of the Impossible
G.I. Joe with Sargeant Savage (His voice was NOT COOL.)
G.I. Joe Extreme

Skeleton Warriors (The action figures were rad.)
Darkstalkers
Street Fighter
Spawn (total http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b150/supercoven/wank.gif if you ask me.)
Tv Funhouse (Technically not a cartoon, but the cartoon segments were seldom ever funny.)
The Flintstones spin-off revolving around Pebbles and Bam-Bam.
Sonic Underground (Technically early 2000s but still.)
All the cartoons on MTV save Beavis & Butt-head and Daria on a good day. Oh, and the Maxx cos' it was cool in a weird way.
Virtually every cartoon on UPN save for Mega Man and Street Sharks.
Mortal Kombat (Hell, ALL the USA cartoons sucked except Mighty Max and Ninja Turtles)
Catdog (The beginning of the end for nicktoons if you ask me)
Damn near every cartoon of the early to mid 90s that wasn't on nickelodeon.

Rocket Power. I kid you not, those kids annoyed me so much I wanted to strangle them (an impressive feat).
The first few seasons of Sailor Moon (dubbed by Dic) were pretty bad. Plus they had those stupid "Sailor Moon Says" tips for life things at the end. Apparently Cloverfield did away with those so the later seasons might have been better, but I never saw those.
And it technically never aired, but there was this Sailor Moon series planned that was supposed to be half live action, half animated (animated for when they were Sailor Scouts, live action when they were civilian). It looked awful because (a) It was politically correct with a a black Sailor Scout and one in a wheel chair (b) the clips shown of the planned pilot showed Sailor Moon and Co traveling around in space on some weird hang gliding-type things and (c) The promo video looked like some bad music video, with the Sailor Scouts dancing around to a bad song ("Sailor! Sailor Mooon!")

Jesus, don't get me started on Sailor Moon. My sister was (and still is) a Japanophile back in the day, and had these VHS tapes of Sailor moon, in original Japanese, with English subtitles.
So, every morning, since my bedroom was on the other side of the tv room wall, I'd wake up to that God-awful Japanese theme song. I wanted to break her tapes so bad; if it weren't for my parents grounding me from friends, games, tv and books (unthinkable for me), I would have the second week.
Oh, this went on until I was in seventh grade, and her friends convinced her the other high school kids couldn't find out or she be ridiculed. The one time I ever liked them, right there.

I guess I never saw "The Batman" just TAS. TAS wasnt great but it didnt totally suck. While I never watched more than half of two episodes, Batman Beyond had a killer concept I thought. What would Bruce Wayne do when he gets to old to fight bad guys? Just hang up the cowl? Hell no! Build a cyborg suit and train some kid.

I've only seen a few Batman Beyond episodes but I read into it more online. The epilogue to BB is in a Justice League episode and it's really good.

Batman Beyond was cool and the Return of the Joker movie was up there with Mask of the Phantasm. I'm pretty much on board with the legion that finds the Bruce Timm/Paul Dini DC Animated Universe adaptation to be the definitive cartoon Batman.

I am almost 30, therefore it is in my genes to say that any cartoon produced after, say, 1992, sucks. With obligatory Adult Swim exceptions. GOD, I'm so demographic conformist.
On a serious note, I flipped through the channels and hit Boomerang, and they were airing "Hey There It's Yogi Bear." I haven't seen that shit since quite literally 1990, but for some reason I still remembered all the words to the songs. Now if I could just remember where my keys were.

You know what pisses me off, people that pretend to give a shit about the fact that TMNT was a comic book. Now, maybe you've got a longbox full of 'em, Durr. But, for those of us who didn't have that luxury, the original TMNT was the definitive version.
Now, I don't think the new show is anywhere near one of the worst cartoons ever, but 80 million times better than the original!?!? When the new show outlasts the run of the original, moves as much merchandise, or spawns movies that rake in cash, then you could argue it's maybe on par with it.
And besides, why the hell should any adult accept that a modern Saturday morning cartoon is better than one they grew up with? It's hard to really enjoy a show made for children when you're not a child.

Again, Pacman, why must you equate success to quality?
pac-man
Jan 12th, 2009, 12:34 PM
I'm flattered you follow my posts so closely. I have to ask, what's your formula for figuring out how good a Saturday morning cartoon is? Anyone who's sitting down with a pen and pad breaking these things down and not getting paid for it is doing it wrong. If you want to talk awards, there was no Emmy for cartoons during the original show's run and the new one has been overlooked I'm sure, not receiving so much as a nomination. I'm sure they've at least gotten nominated for an Annie Award- let me check. WHAT!? No? While successful (and apparently terrible) shows like Family Guy and SpongeBob Squarepants are multiple time winners! Pfft... stupid professional critics and stupider everybody else who watches these shows and buys their merchandise. Thank goodness there are anonymous forum visitors who are hard at work to correct these oversights.
In direct response to your statement: Why aren't the Detroit Lions successful? Because their players and coaches aren't quality.
EDIT: or whatever the Canadian Football League equivalent is. Matter of fact, let's just say that the reason the NFL is more successful than the CFL is because the NFL has higher quality play and players.
EDIT: or whatever the cheese, hockey, or Rush equivalent is.
