Just realized we've had people post their gaming collection setups in the past, but we've never had people post photos of their general TV/entertainment center areas. So let's see whatcha got. :O

My bedroom floor.

A beige box,
2.66 Ghz Pentium 4
1024 MB of RAM (2 x 512)
Asus AH3450, (ATi Radeon HD 3450), AGP

19" eMachines panel, probably the only thing worth buying from them. Got it for a sole Benjamin.

And the hard to see, but impossibly beautiful 36" Sony Bravia.

That's my computer and desk that I no longer use. It's a shame, cause I really like all of the stupid toys and things, as well as the sub-woofer and speakers.

Does everybody here own a f*ck*ng Samsung!? Mine's a 32'' LCD blah blah blah. Anyway that's where I sit when I'm not sitting here or at the local bar. My computer desk is a mess and my computer isn't worth showing. I'd show a picture of the bar if I had one. And that's totally a wind-up me flanking the Goddamned Batman.

To be fair, they do make badass television sets.

Jan 9th, 2009, 08:47 PM
Ah, I skimmed too fast. You gots a Bravia. I honestly went with Samsung over Sony because it was cheaper due to a sale they had at our PX.

Fathom Zero
Jan 9th, 2009, 08:54 PM
I had a 10% Walmart discount at the time, and it was a sale. Made it a little over $430 or so.

Zomboid
Jan 9th, 2009, 09:39 PM
Yeah, I was trying to choose between a Bravia and the Samsung that I got, and while they were pretty close to the same price, the Samsung edged out the Bravia in terms of quality. I really like having a nice HDTV though, but I'm not too picky either way. Compared to the old tube tv that I had, this thing is a God-send.

Fathom Zero
Jan 9th, 2009, 09:49 PM
I had a rear-projection TV, this massive 50-60 incher. The problem was that the red, blue, and green tubes came out of sync. So, one half of the screen would be red and the other would be blue and green.

LCD is a modern wonder.

HD tv is like that shit the Riddler was using on people in Batman Forever. I never really thought twice about it until my old man got a big screen HD. I might as well had a fucking black and white tv. God knows what the next step is.

They can, but it's better with three so that you don't get the line down the middle. Three create a sweet panoramic effect that I couldn't begin to afford.

Yuppers, unless you're playing some sort of side-scrollng platformer or RTS. First person shooters wouldn't really benefit at all.

Three screens, though; EXPENSIVE LIKE A MUHFUH. Heh. If I had no limits, sure. But I'm more than happy with my 19" monitor. Its resolution is awful, though.

MetalMilitia
Jan 15th, 2009, 08:57 AM
Yeah I think the only game I've ever played across both screens was Supreme Commander as it was an officially supported feature (you'd get your main HUD/map on one monitor and then another map on the other which you could zoom into as far as you wanted. This way you could have your base always shown on one monitor and whatever else on the other - it was really cool, just a shame I didn't like the game much).

As others have said it doesn't work with shooters because of the inch of plastic right where your cross-hair is.

I really wish more developers would start adding support for a second screen to their games. It'd be so useful to just have a map or inventory permanently displayed on your spare screen.

Heh I stared putting up posters around my desk area recently, much to the irritation of my girlfriend. She tells me it's making the place look like I teenager's bedroom. I told her to shut her whore mouth. Well no I didn't. I just told her I'd restrict them to the gaming area which seems to have placated her.

I think I'll slowly move them across into the living room over many months so before she knows what's happened the entire flat celebrates all things gaming and metal.

Please excuse the quality of these pics, as they were taken by regular flash photo camera, the kind you'd buy at a drug store. My digital camera went tits up a long tiem ago and I haven't got around to getting a new one.

http://www.prtc.net/%7Elocobahamut/roomstuff01.jpg
You can see part of my 42" LG LCD TV, along with the PS3, Xbox 360, dvd player, device switcher thingamajig, my vast cd collection, my book shelf, my stack of vinyls, unopened McFarlane The Trooper Eddie figure (sent to me by Travis Smith, a semi-famous metal cover artist), unopened McFarlane's Twisted Xmas Mrs. Claus figure, 12" Robocop figure and part of my Ran poster.

http://www.prtc.net/%7Elocobahamut/roomstuff04.jpg
Close-up of some of the things mentioned above. Also of note are some of the cd's that are visible on the top row, which are various The Gathering singles that Carnivore Is God sold to me about two years back.

http://www.prtc.net/%7Elocobahamut/roomstuff02.jpg
The top of my cd shelf thing. Various box sets: Led Zeppelin, Slayer, Alice In Chains, Black Sabbath (Ozzy and Dio) and Iced Earth. Also my framed vinyl of A Real Dead One and the uber rare, promo only pic disc of Maiden England.

http://www.prtc.net/%7Elocobahamut/roomstuff03.jpg
I did something interesting with this. I took a regular Dark Knight movie poster and cut it in two, putting them in the frames seen in the pic. It looks pretty cool I think. The bottom frame has a Sodom poster (that came with their last album), two Carcass posters (from re-issues of Heartwork and Swansong) and two signed album booklets, one of Nevermore's This Godless Endeavor and the other Deceased's The Blueprints Of Madness.

I spy an old tabletop (Coleco) game there. Which one is it, Donkey Kong? Looks like you've got a Gamecube with the added Gameboy Advance base adapter on it? Nice.

What else is on your shelves there, it's hard to make everything out since it's not the largest photo or anything.

Nice setups all around so far everybody. Let's see some more! Speaking of which, I gotta remember to take a photo of mine sometime soon so I can post it up on here. :O

It's a Ms. Pac-Man game, which still work by the way. I found it in a garage sale where I also found a Vectrex in mint condition, but the box was a bit tear. The Game Boy Player was a belated Christmas gift from one of my friend and he knew that I wanted one for years.

Moreover, for the rest, on the top shelves there's my DVD/VHS player, my decoder (I have digital cable) and all my DVDs along with random figurine and family pictures. On the left shelves, there's my stereo. I was annoyed to find out that most of the stereos didn't have a cassette player anymore. Goodbye mix tape! So, I bought one with an iPod jack instead. Then come my NES and my SNES (I'm currently playing Super Metroid). And finally, at the bottom, there are most of my VHS tapes. Now, on the right, there my GameCube, my Jungle Green Edition of the Nintendo 64 and my PS2 slim. Under that, there's all my NES, SNES, GameCube, Nintendo 64 and Playstation games. And on the last shelf, there are my gaming strategy guides, some 45-RPM records and the blue box contains pictures on my family and my childhood. That’s all!

By the way, did anyone notice the Betamax VCR at the bottom right on the picture? I’ve used it some month ago to watch Flash Gordon.

Is that a Beetlejuice doll sitting on a toilet in the top right corner?

It's a bobblehead and he's sitting on the house iust like on the movie poster. It my favorite bobblehead to this time.

I wish I still had my SNES hooked to my tv :(

I know what you mean. I still miss my first NES and its turbo contoller. I always like to use the turbo feature in the underwater levels on Super Mario Bros.
