I know that there are probably only 4 people who post here who live within 3 states of Florida and would ever be able to come here, but I'm really fucking bored at work, so I took some pictures of my workplace and some of the crap we sell.
They're not in any particular order.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/ikrsez/photos/Picture2003.jpg
These are some displays. People ask how much they are at least twice a day. I hate them.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/ikrsez/photos/Picture2004.jpg
This is for sale. $175. I love it.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/ikrsez/photos/Picture2005.jpg
A Jaguar. Everybody laughs at it.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/ikrsez/photos/Picture2006.jpg
A 3D0. It's also funny.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/ikrsez/photos/Picture2008.jpg
Retro-Duos. These things sell like hotcakes. They play SNES and NES games, including imports. They use a standard SNES input so you can use official SNES controllers on them. No input for a light gun, though. :(
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/ikrsez/photos/Picture2007.jpg
A stack of Saturns. Nobody knows what they are.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/ikrsez/photos/Picture2001.jpg
A CDX. It's one of Sega's many abortions. It plays Genesis/Megadrive and SegaCD/MegaCD games. It's fucking beautiful and I want it.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/ikrsez/photos/Picture2010.jpg
An Atlus game. Not sure why I took a picture of this.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/ikrsez/photos/Picture2009.jpg
Self explanatory.

We also have a boxed set of Silver Star Story but it looks like garbage so I didn't photograph it.

SNES. It looks a little bare because that space in the middle is reserved for Mario games. People buy them all the time so they're guaranteed to sell within a day of being put out. I want the Mega Man X set.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/ikrsez/photos/Picture1005.jpg
N64.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/ikrsez/photos/Picture1008.jpg
Dreamcast shit. There's a set of sealed games in the back that aren't for sale.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/ikrsez/photos/Picture1009.jpg
Import PE2.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/ikrsez/photos/Picture1010.jpg
An honest to god copy of Super Noah's Ark 3D. I never thought I would see one.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/ikrsez/photos/Picture1011.jpg
A hilarious gimmick controller for the PS2 RE4.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/ikrsez/Picture005.jpg
The worst PS2 controller ever conceived.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/ikrsez/Picture003.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/ikrsez/Picture002.jpg
Again, self explanatory.
I'd have more pictures but I ran out of space on my card. Also I'm lazy as hell

I spotted the Beast Wars game for n64. That's the first time that I was reminded of its existence since reading about it when it was first being made :O

Some truly great stuff in your store there Emu. What's the name of the place anyway? You didn't say...

I have that Resident Evil chainsaw controller too, but the original one that came out for the Gamecube. Great display box and bloody as hell. It's a total novelty of course, but damned if it isn't one of the coolest ones I've ever seen.

Shutup.

There are a shitload of stores all over Canada that sell retro-gaming hardware.

How much for the Sega CD?

It's a CDX, and it's 109, and that's on reserve for me. :D I think we have a second gen Sega CD, but I don't know how much that would be. I'll check tomorrow.

There's a store like this near my house, only it's incredibly overpriced and doesn't have half that stuff. It's the only one in MD, too.

Then again, $175 for the Control Deck and $60 for a Jaguar seems a little steep.

If I PM'ed you a list of NES/Genesis/SNES games I'm desperately looking for, could you by any chance find out the prices? :3

Someone else mentioned that on another forum I post on. the control deck is sealed, and has never been used. Sealed NES2s typically go for 250 or more on eBay, so 175 isn't really bad at all.

Yes, but we don't have a lot of Sega stuff outside of Dreamcast and a few select Sega CD/Saturn games. Nobody here buys them and I guess not even that many people owned the earlier Sega consoles around here.

Another long day, so more photos.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/ikrsez/photos/Picture3015.jpg

A second-gen Sega CD. It's kinda skanky looking and the door doesn't stay closed unless you physically push the open button back into the closed position. Though, knowing Sega, this may be intentional.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/ikrsez/photos/Picture3014.jpg

A first gen Sega CD. Not for sale. :(

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/ikrsez/photos/Picture3008.jpg

We killed Master Chief.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/ikrsez/photos/Picture3007.jpg

DS stuff.

Speaking of DS, we occasionally sell replacement parts for some systems. They're generally knock-off brands made in Taiwan or something. The packaging is always hilarious, like this DS replacement shell:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/ikrsez/photos/Picture3009.jpg

The back of the package says this, verbatim:

"1.For the various bright colors, you can choose what you like.
2.Make your game console look much newer and more beautiful.
3.Meet your individual seeking."

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/ikrsez/photos/Picture3005.jpg

More gimmick controllers. The Street Fighter one is just like the ones they released for SF4, but wired and for the PS2.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/ikrsez/photos/Picture3004.jpg

We sell player's guides. Some of them are cool, like the following.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/ikrsez/photos/Picture3019.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/ikrsez/photos/Picture3018.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/ikrsez/photos/Picture3017.jpg

Some of them are less cool, like this monstrosity I found.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/ikrsez/photos/Picture3010.jpg

I wasn't able to get a decent photo that properly portrays the absolutely bizarre artwork on the cover of this thing because my camera is awful. So here's this blurry thing.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/ikrsez/photos/Picture3013.jpg

It's as though they hired an artist, gave him a handful of games and told him to draw from them. Most notable is Trisomy 21 Link on the bottom left corner, who has yellow eyes, no pupils, and is basically just a fat elf. I guess that's how he looked in the game, too, so I can't fault him on that. It also seems to have some kind of hatred for vegetables. We have a tomato getting hit with a baseball bat, a carrot being fired out of a canon, and a lonely onion with stink lines sitting on a cloud in the top left. He's also crying.

Not to mention that dragon. I don't think anything needs to be said about it. Just look at it.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/ikrsez/photos/Picture3006.jpg

Another gimmick controller that looks awesome but seems like it would be awful to actually play with.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/ikrsez/photos/Picture3016.jpg

The first Nintendo Power.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/ikrsez/photos/Picture3003.jpg

We also sell movies :)

How much for one of those Retro Duo systems? And would you ship to NY?

Babs
Mar 19th, 2009, 06:42 PM
Down in Columbus Ohio we have something pretty good retro video game shops. They have a lot of rare gems that they don't even know are worth good amounts. I've purchased Magician for NES for $10, now that's amazing. But I'm going to have to say you're store is by far better than anything around here.

$69.99, and the store only does local business. I think you can order one online off of Amazon or something.

Edit: I also wanted to make clear that I do not own or operate this store, I just work part time there. I just love the place and would like to encourage business. The internet's probably not the place to do that given store policy of local business, but if you're in the area, come check it out.

Also, I bought that CDX today. :3

you should suggest to the owners to consider doing online sales and set up a site. I imagine that store would do well online

Emu
Mar 20th, 2009, 02:11 PM
I actually did suggest it, but the owner refuses to put his stuff online. He knows they'll sell online, but then he'll be like all of the other retro stores in the area and have nothing actually in the store. I have a lot of respect for him for that reason.

Mockery
Mar 20th, 2009, 02:14 PM
Heheh, he wouldn't even need to setup a store online really. He could just put shit up on eBay and make a killing, but I can totally understand wanting to have inventory for the brick & mortar business.

Why else would you go to florida then if not for good games. Someone stole my Suikoden 1 and my Suikoden 2. I found them in Florida at a Game Dungeon for $10 a piece, had enough to buy Clock Tower 1 and Clock Tower 2.

Do those Duo systems have inputs for NES controllers too? I can't play without my Advantage and my Max!!

nice post, nice pics. I've still got my ragged ass Nintendo Powers from back in the day. Had to find scans of the Nintendo Fun Club online tho. Never got subscribed to that one.

Mar 24th, 2009, 01:04 PM
Unfortunately, no. It sucks because I have people come in all the time and buy copies of Mario/Duck Hunt and then bring it back the next day because their guns won't work with their Retro-Duo :(
