View Full Version : The Death Of Cartoon Network

Juuuuuust when I thought they weren't going to go through with that whole "live-action" bullshit, take a look at this steaming (http://www.cartoonbrew.com/tv/cartoon-network-promises-more-live-action.html) pile of idiocy (http://www.cartoonbrew.com/tv/cartoon-network-promises-more-live-action.html). The majority of their new shows are live-action, which should horrify anyone who grew up with the network as a part of their childhood like me.
The sound you just heard was me horking up my own bile. If you're just as angry as I am at this, you can send a letter to Cartoon Network at 1050 Techwood Drive NW, Atlanta GA 30318. That's 1050 Techwood Drive NW, Atlanta GA 30318. You can contact them online, but they'll probably only listne to you if you send it by snail mail. Tell everyone you know, and spread the word to kill the live action movement on CN. It's Cartoon Network not Cartoonickelodeon!

You could always start your own cable network and try to pay your bills. I'm sure it is the easiest thing to do.

OK but it's CARTOON Network. Live-Action is like the definition of NOT a Cartoon. That would be like Comedy Central playing Sleepless in Seattle, or the SciFi network showing porn. Your analogy is therefore defunct.

SciFi network shows wrestling which isn't sci-fi, and Comedy Central showed Sports Night which isn't comedy. :rolleyes

Yeah, and that was my point. There is one live-action show that looks good, that one pilot scripted by Paul Dini, but it could have been aniamted, why go through all that bullshit?! Or at least put it on a channel that SHOULD have it, like Nickelodeon.
And I do admit I was... overly bombastic and whiny in that first post. But that still doesn't make their decision any less bullshit. I'll still watch that Genndy Tarakofski series and Adventure Time though.

I hear David Simon is pitching an animated version of THE WIRE to them next season. He said it'll be in the vein of Johnny Quest.

Uninspired anger directed at message board! Nonspecific things with no tangible value need to be changed! GENERAL OUTRAGE! THINGS MUST CHANGE OR VEILED, NEUTERED THREATS THAT MEAN LESS THAN THE TIME THEY TOOK TO TYPE OUT WILL HAPPEN!
OR... You could accept the fact that you've gotten older and need to start liking new things.

aside from the adult swim stuff, cartoon network hasn't shown good cartoons in years. they even have their newer cartoons all over the boomerang channel now. it's sad, this generation of kids is gonna grow up watching a bunch of bitch ass p.c. cartoons and never learn about the joys anvils and exploding cigars. glad i got a closet full of cartoons on tape.
Angryhydralisk

Not that Adult Swim's programming is exactly stellar in recent years, either.
Isn't the scheduled block more or less Random ADD program, two retards with a contract, cartoon OBVIOUSLY done in flash, random hip anime, and Cowboy Bebop?

Every generation feels bad for the following generation about everything in the universe.
Everything that's meant for kids is awesome when you're a kid, then when you grow up the new stuff is not awesome anymore from your perspective.
My sister is a lot older than me and she says Salute Your Shorts, Pete and Pete, Rocko's Modern Life, etc. are all garbage and the good stuff was on Nickelodeon when she was a kid.
The kids these days are going to fucking love Cartoon Network anyway, even if you're being melodramatic on the internet about "the death" of it. Your generation was no better than any other.

Indeed. Last I seen there was a lot of animes, Sealab, home Movies, and Aquateen.
I also remember watching it back when it started, with just Space Ghost, Pilot Candidate (Anybody remember THAT piece of shit!?), Inuyasha when it was worth a shit, Cowboy Bebop, and Trigun. Now THAT was good watchins' in the heat of the night.
Well, except Inuyasha. I'll never be able to remotely enjoy it ever since I walked in on my gay nephew beating off to pictures of Inuyasha.

I agree with you on that first mockery, and I was a dumbass for posting that first post. But on your second point, I actually do like some stuff on Cartoon Network, like Batman The Brave and the Bold, Transformers Animated and Chowder. I'm just angry that they're trying to crowd out the animation with live action on the network.

No I wasn't, if by imagining you mean visualizing in my head. It's just the general "OH MY DEAR SWEET JESUS I WOULD STAB MY EYES OUT OF MY HEAD IF I SAW THAT" of the general concept that frightens me and squicks me out..

Our cartoons could afford to be a little more isque; Looney Toons constantly had mild sexual themes, such as burlesque or clubs, bars, what have you, and violence. DBZ, Batman, Superman, whatever, could get away with their characters actually showing injuries in fights. In cartoons now, they either just got lots of scratches and dirt on them, or just get patched up with band-aids. Hell, on Static Shock, one of the main characters got fucking SHOT. You couldn't pull that off on daytime CN.
Also, fucking Toonami. I can't stress enough how awesome it was to come home from school, and watch DBZ, Zoids, and all that with my friend. That was the best thing ever back then.

That Generator Rex shit sounds exactly like Ben 10, meaning it will suck, unless Rex pulls machines OUT OF HIS ASS. :)
And what could be worse then that overated piece of shit Ben 10 still being on?

Yes indeed. I also like Transformers animated. Did you know that they put a Rocklord (Or at least an asteroid monster probably inspired by Rocklords) in the Season 3 Premire. Yay.
But there is bad news. CH Greeblatt said on his blog that Chowder would probably be canceled allong with Animated due to being made under previous management and the new management wanting to erase all traces of the previous administration. This pisses me off to no end, and makes me wish I could puch the petty fucks that did this in the face.
