What kind of software do Rog and Protoclown and the others use for these articles? Do they use Adobe Premiere or Gadwin Printscreen or anything like that? I'd like to know how to take pictures from movies and make animated gifs like that but I don't know how you did it, and make it load so quickly.

Yeah, that's pretty much it. It's MAGIC.
As for getting screenshots and making gifs... it's basically a long process I go through. A lot of the stuff I take screenshots of is really old, so the quality is poor. I'll try to touch stuff up in photoshop and then export it with some image optimization software and then import it into a gif animation program and optimize it further in there as best I can.
CyberLink PowerDVD is what I use to capture screenshots off of DVDs, but pretty much any decent DVD player programs have a screenshot function.

Cool! I have that program and I just thought it was for watching!
Thanks! I'm addicted to your site, by the way. I think I lost a call at work because I was laughing my ass off instead of answering the phone like I was supposed to. :D

Probably just lost a sale. Or a dumb question about shipping.

Huh, I was wondering about the screenshots too. Whenever I got to get them, I admit I do it in a very primitive way (I find the clip on YouTube or some other video hosting site, pause at the bit I want, use the screengrab function, and save the screenshot onto Paint).
I'm seriously suspecting that Mockery's way's better... :\

The quality of youtube videos really isn't very good, so yeah, getting screenshots direct from the DVDs is a much better way. I also don't use Paint, I use Photoshop and some image optimization software when exporting any pics to jpg/gif format.
