View Full Version : Michael Bay is done with Transformers

So apparently the new transformers will be his last. I really enjoyed the first film and am looking forward to the second one in IMAX(certain scenes filmed with imax camera!). I wonder if this will kill the movie franchise or if someone else will pick up where he left off.

"I need to do something totally divergent, something without any explosions." :lol Good luck with that

is one of the only series i fell needs a lot of explosions and that's pretty much what bay does but i'm pretty sure the franchise won't die

No I don't require much from my summer action movies that involve robots from another planet who transform into cars and other objects. I'm sorry you are unable to enjoy action movies.

Dimnos
Jun 18th, 2009, 12:27 PM
Action movies? I hardly noticed any actual transformer action. There were like 2 scenes close to the end that were worth watching. Oh and the opening scene where blackout takes out the military base was rather cool. I will give you that. There were way to many humans and human drama going on. I wanted some hard core robot on robot action and It wasnt delivered. >:

Ant10708
Jun 18th, 2009, 12:39 PM
Well you should be more satisfied this time around if you decide to see the sequel because apparently Michael bay listened to similar complaints and this movie has much more robot vs robot action as well as more screen time in general for the robots.

I'm not excited about the 2nd one. I was with the first, but then I got burned big time.

Dimnos
Jun 18th, 2009, 02:05 PM
Thats what I hear and I hope he really has done that. I will go see the new one but I wont have my hopes up. :\ I was more pissed that the humans kicked as much ass as they did at the end.

Dimnos
Jun 18th, 2009, 02:08 PM
Hell... that there were that many human characters to begin with. It should have just been Sam.

Ant10708
Jun 18th, 2009, 02:12 PM
I don't think any male should complain about megan fox's inclusion but I agree all the secondary military characters were unnecessary to flesh out at all.

Dimnos
Jun 18th, 2009, 02:19 PM
I can understand the inclusion of a hot chick for Sam to win over. Megan Fox though...? Sperm dumpster molded from dick cheese. That girl just looks skankarific. :\

Really, there was no reason for any of the human characters to be in the movie.

I had read that he wanted to do at least 5 movies. However, I would be more than happy to see another director have their hands on the franchise. As far as the humans, I had no problem with them, but they did get way too much screen time in the first movie.

Oh, and this would definitely not kill the franchise. The movie was in works for years before he was even attached to it. The only thing that would kill the movies is money.

Yeah, I did. At a special premier at Botcon 07.

The movie, regardless of it's quality, made a lot of money. As long as the money is coming in, the movies are gonna be coming out.

The thing is, that looks far more exciting than an actual Michael Bay movie. He's not even a ridiculous action movie director, he's a snoozefest action movie director. Stallone filled the last Rambo with nothing but violence, and it was fantastic. Michael Bay fills his movies with... I don't know, can you even call it plot?

Armageddon, Bad Boys II, Transformers; all of those movies plod along like nobody's business. It's completely unfathomable to me that anyone can enjoy his movies on any level.

It's just a rumor (http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/transformers-movie-just-movie-31/michael-bay-is-not-quitting-transformers-167961/)

He's not quitting Transformers.

Whatever, they need to make a Beast Wars movie...

Sure it would be a CGI film, but who cares? As long as they get those guys behind the 2007 TMNT movie to do it, it'll be awesome.

And Steve Buscemi as Rattrap

I love how people who hate him so much have seen more of his movies then I have. I don't think anyone is trying to defend Armageddon or bad boys. Seriously, why would you even waste any amount of your life to see Bad Boys 2? 'The Rock' was a really fun movie. You didn't like that one Krythor?

I agree the last Rambo was amazing!

Christ Hollywood doesn't know how to do an original cliffhanger

Seriously, if I wanted to see mutant Bionicles humping each other with dumb humans in the background, I'd go to a kindergarten or something, with a picture of Megan Fox

Go make more Animated episodes or something, since that was better to watch

I loved the first movie.

I completely understand why they put all of the fleshbags in it. Amazingly, most people simply don't wanna see a big CGI toy beating up on another big CGI toy. Its too nerdy I guess. Get some black dude in there and have him say "shit just got real yo!" or something similar and people will flock to it. Its scientifically proven and stuff.

yes optimus does dies near the middle of the movie but thanks to the matrix and jetfire, who apparently used to be a decepticon he kicks megatron's ass and kills the fallen

Apparently yes, they supposedly got Frank Welker to voice him, but he's now some weird satellite/spaceship who shoots out Ravage who apparently is now a giant dildo that changes into one of those Kenner panther aliens......

Oh, and Devastator now looks and seems like if a Megazord violently raped one of those monsters....

Ok this shit with the racist robots or whatever is getting retarded. First of all as durr pointed out you could easily be white and talk like the supposed black robots do ie be a wigger. And also they are fucking robots with no skin color

omg they don't read much they must be making fun of black people

I mean how could you not get racism as an end result from the voice of spongebob squarepants and a fucking black voice actor. ::rolleyes::

Also get your panties in a bunch for this scene: a Chinese man eating noodles! the horror and ignorance!

Saw the movie yesterday. I loved it. There were lots of action and explosions. The twins were kinda annoying. Needed more Megatron. Optimus was bad-ass in the end. Megan Fox is still delicious. A little robot humped her leg. That's all I have to say.

I heard really bad reviews about Transformers 2 but I had to see it for myself.
1. The twins were really annoying.
2. I didn't like the fact people would show up and be like "HERE I AM! I'M THIS GUY!" and then you wouldn't see them for another hour into the movie.
3. Starscream still looks like a robot version of the hunchback from Notre Dame. I was expecting him to yell out "SANCTUARY" at any time.
4. Devastator :(
5. Sam Witwicki's hand injury
The Yankees :( :(
I heard about the Optimus merger with Jetfire and I thought it would look a lot better than it did.
6. There wasn't much interaction with the original cast/autobots.

Friend bought my ticket for me, so I didn't mind going to see it.

Holy fuck. I'll give a rundown of the plot because it was really good:

Just kidding. It was horrible.

So basically that jerk Shia is going to college. Then he drops this thing that turns electronic devices into Transformers. They start blowing stuff up and Shia is all BUMBALBEEEEH! and then Bumblebee blows up the house. The parents are upset but LOL the insurance will cover it. Then they all get in the car and take Shia to school.

There's a cool fight in the beginning with all the transformers, then Optimus tells this guy who tells a guy who tells the president that The Fallen is coming and that the goverment needs to stop being shitty. Then this jackass in a suit and glasses is all "hey, I'm the jerk who's here to piss everyone off and make things harder for everyone because I never got laid and kids made fun of my glasses in school".

After that, the Decipticons come to earth to get the rock thing Shia had at the beginning of the movie. They start chasing him, Fox, and this annoying spanish computer geek around campus. Then Shia's all BUMBALBEEEH and Bumblebee comes and saves him. Is that shout something from the first movie? I never saw it, but every time he shouts Bumblebee's name, he flips over a building and blows shit up. He basically just hides somewhere and waits for that cue, and it happens a few times, so I thought it was some sort of...I don't know.

Anyways, the bad guys chase Shia around and Optimus tries to protect him. Then Optimus dies. So they spend most of the movie following Shia as he tries to figure out where this Matrix thing is to stop the Fallen from using a laser that eats the sun. This goes on for at least an hour, with just Shia, Fox, the loser guy, and some other conspiracy dude running around solving mysteries. Then they meet this old fighter jet in a museum and wake him up. He's actually a Decepticon, but he became an Autobot because something something something.

So this old transformer tells Shia to find the Matrix of Leadership because that's the key to the laser thing. He tells him a riddle to help guide him, and Shia wonders if he can use the Matrix to bring Optimus back to life. So now they drive around Egypt and you wonder if you'll ever see any more fighting.

The army flies over with Optimus' body to wait for Shia, except now Megatron knows where he is. Oh yea, Megatron is back because the bad guys found another rock thing. Anyways, Megatron and the Fallen and some other generic transformers all go after Shia, who found the Matrix but accidentally broke it.

The rest of the movie is Shia and friends running across the desert to Optimus, and the Autobots protect him and the army. Lots of explosions for 15, maybe 30 minutes. You'd think they'd focus on the Transformers, but while they fight, the camera focuses on Shia. Then they make it to the army and there's an explosion and Shia dies. Finally.

Except the dead Transformers from a long time ago decide he's a good leader and wake him up and repair the Matrix. Shia runs to Optimus and he wakes up, but Megatron kicks everyone's ass and the Fallen steals the Matrix and runs to the laser that's a few miles away. So the old transformer guy give Optimus his power cell so that Optimus can become Super Omega Ultimate Optimus Prime HD Remix. He's got guns and shit.

So then Optimus flies to the laser (he can fly now) and kills the Fallen in about 1 minute with little climax or build up. Then he tears off half of Megatron's face, so Megatron and StarScream run away.

It cuts back to a carrier and Optimus thanks Shia. Shia thanks him for believing. They look at the horizon and the movie ends.

That's too bad, because there's probably gonna be a third one based on the ending. And since Bay probably isn't working on it, it's either going to be way better or somehow manage to be way worse.

I can't imagine a worse transformers movie. They'd have to take every Autobot and Decepticon out of the movie, and even then it'd still be very similar to 90% of RotF.
