How do I read the loom of fate?

After watching Wanted, I wanted to get a magnifying glass and read secret messages in towels and shirts. Unfortunately, I don't understand what parts to read as a 1 and which to read as a zero. Can anyone point me to a tutorial on reading the loom of fate?
