The first 5 minutes are w/e and his "amusing" voice get less annoying cause the rest of the 65 minutes make up for it.
I fell asleep in the movie theater watching this film, and 2 more times watching the DVD. I never understood why the movie bored me so much, but now I know.

I thought the analysis was great; he made a lot of good points.
But the character/schtick got old fast.

This is the strokeguy reviewer, named as such because he sounds like he had a stroke. If you watch his stuff in order (he goes through all the star trek tng movies) you'll appreciate it a whole lot more. I'm happy he's gotten so famous because of the phantom menace review, because before all of his videos only had around 1k views, and his talent deserves recognition.
Make sure you check out his channel for all the reviews, some of the other strokeguy episodes are funnier than this one http://www.youtube.com/user/RedLetterMedia

I never watched the newer star trek movies, so I didn't really get anything he was saying :(

i approve of this man
on the other hand, 70 minutes of information Of ESSAY FORMAT is a bit goddam excessive

Star Trek Nemesis is gonna be on in a few. I'm gonna try to watch it just so I can see if his review is funny.

I love the not-so-subtle clues that he's a serial killer

I have a sneaking suspicion he's the "shop for a coffin" guy from an oldish episode of The Best Show on WFMU.

Which would be a bad thing.
I enjoy the reviews themselves for what they are, but his sense of humour is awful. "Dark" humour is cheap. I laugh occasionally when they make me notice things about the films I didn't notice before, but for the most part the stuff that's meant to be funny because it's creepy is poor. If these reviews were done without the quirky editing and the silly voice they'd be distinctly average.

A good delivery is key to making a joke funny though. Groucho Marx could make the mundane hilarious because of how he said it. While this guy is no Groucho, he is still good at the humorous delivery

You say that like it's a small thing but those are the best parts. Without them, clever observations or not, I doubt I'd be able to stay seated for hour long diatribes about movies I've never even seen.

Surely it doesn't matter as long as the end result is entertaining?

This guy is absolutely hilarious. I've seen the Episode 1 & 2 reviews numerous times already. The voice and serial killer angle is what makes it for me. The absolute absurdity of a shut in psychopath tearing apart two shitty movies gets better each time I see them.

I like fart jokes, this guy makes me laugh. He's like a long stinky fart. Like in Step Brothers.
