J. D. Salinger is now a reclusive misanthrope in the afterlife.

I've been grossly misinformed then. I thought Salinger passed away a few years ago.

I thought this guy had already died too. Another guy that I thought was dead but isn't, Bob Dylan.

Did he even write anything other than Catcher? I don't see what the big deal is, all he did was lock himself from the outside world.

I think Catcher was the only thing that was published. But he had tons of stuff that he wrote that never went public.
Probably posted here.
I'll bet he was Mad Max. :love

You guys are so fucking uneducated. 'Catcher', which is a damn fine book, is also the very least of his works.
He's the greatest American short story writer, period. Every half decent writer since the fifties owes half their style to him.
To celebrate the fact that you don't know any of his limited but amazing body of work is crass and idiotic. If you don't know shit about something, try saying "Know what? I don't know shit about that." You may find it refreshing.

I just want to say, that while I don't know anything about Salinger, I DO know that being insulted by Max is an honor.

For the I-Mock record...it's an established fact that I don't know anything. :)
I never felt I had to qualify my ignorance before. :D This is a foreign emotion you bring out in me.
Good to see you, Cos. :love
