View Full Version : An opinion on the Beatles

in the 60's, people called their hairstyles "outrageous", as if it were the most amazing thing they had ever seen. I myself am an avid Beatles fan, especially of John Lennon, but I do not find their hair outrageous. it is simply the look of someone who is most likely crazy and too stoned too care. in other words, a complete idiot. now I'm not calling John, Paul, George or Ringo idiots, but those haircuts dont do them justice. they deserved better. what do you guys think?

It took me a really long time to like the beatles mainly because everyone all the time is gaga over them. I do appreciate the music they have made but I wouldn't pay money to see them.(Or even a cover band)
Paul or George made an album of beatles songs on panpipes which is actually really cool to listen to.

Also, The Beatles could do whatever they wanted with their hair because they were bigger than Jesus

well I could give a fuck, because I am calling them liars. while I love their music, I really dont have any respect for them, as they are all idiots. to talk to them would be a complete waste of time. and anyway, only a bunch of hippie idiots such as them would claim to be bigger than Jesus.

I didn't agree or disagree with them, I was making a reference to a well know moment in their history in a throw away comment. I posted that link for you so you would know what I was talking about. I didn't mean for it to put a bee in your bonnet.

I was going to ask who your guys' favorite Beatles member was but I couldn't decide myself. I can only say for certain that it isn't George Harrison.

Sure I like what Harrison brought into The Beatles (Something, Here Comes the Sun, Taxman) and I recognize that although they could have done without Ringo they could not have done without Harrison. Still, the stuff he did after The Beatles just doesn't appeal to me. There's no argument he was way more talented than Ringo but I love Ringo Starr for different reasons (I read somewhere that what endeared him to the fangirls was that he brought out their maternal instinct). I even like some of Ringo's post-Beatles music even though I know he didn't write any of it.
Here's a song written by George Harrison for Ringo Starr

Ringo was by far the most fan friendly Beatle. That reference on the Simpsons where he replies to every fan letter is apparently true, even though he officially said in the last year he will be answering no more fan mail.
http://www.cnn.com/2008/SHOWBIZ/10/14/ringo.starr.fan.mail/index.html
And even though the article seems to imply he is pushing the fans away finally after years of answering every request for an autograph, I can't say I blame him for being done with it. It has been three decades plus of him being accommodating. I think he has done more than enough.
And he has a song or two he did solo that I enjoy.
