According to the ESRB (http://www.esrb.org/ratings/synopsis.jsp?Certificate=28945), Sega is preparing to rekindle its love affair with light gun game ports for the Wii. Having already released House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return and Ghost Squad on Nintendo's console, it looks like Sega is adding both Gunblade NY and LA Machineguns to the collection of rehashes (in addition to the excellent, original title House of the Dead: Overkill (http://joystiq.com/tag/house-of-the-dead-overkill)). It appears that both games will be combined in a single package, as the ESRB has rated "Gunblade NY & LA Machineguns Arcade Hits Pack" for Wii.

If you missed out on either game in the arcades of yore, both involved flying around cityscapes and hosing down enemies with machine gun fire. Of course -- barring the release of a massive Wiimote peripheral -- the Wii version probably won't share the arcade version's fierce force feedback. The revelation of continued light gun game ports also raises a very important question: What's a gamer gotta do to get some Virtua Cop? Make it happen, Sega.

Well if you like VC2 then I'm sure you'll love GunBlade / LA Machine gun. You get a machine gun and you get to shoot it at robot crotches.

But does it have the shot in the dick death animation of Virtua Cop 2?

Hmmm, I can't say. I haven't played it in a while. Hopefully.

I just went to Sega's website and the dam things coming out FALL of 2010. Do you believe that? All it is is a straight port from the arcade games, why the hell is it taking them so long? They aren't even adding extra content too it.

And I heard that ghost squad sucked for the Wii which is a let down. When will they learn that when you port an arcade game over to a console you gotta add some more levels and such or it won't be enough content.

Why the fuck can't you just wait? It's obvious you know nothing about marketing.

That was THE reason to play that game. When that game first came out my bro and I would go spend all night at this arcade playing it. It was one of those arcades where you pay something like $5 to get in the door and the games were free all night. Man i miss that place. :(

Nobody knows where they went, and even the bad arcades (like Gameworks) are closing now

I'm finding it impossible to even go to "modern" arcades now. Dave & Busters IMO feels way too synthetic.

Yes, they have the games but there is something missing. I can't place it but its too.....clean.

Arcades need to be dark, dusty, dirty, filled with ill-tempered competitive people who want to fist fight you after you perform Scorpion's fatality in Mortal Kombat on them.

Thinking of making a MAME cab? or are you just going to buy a gutted cabinet and refurbish it?

Oh god.....I have a love / hate relationship with my garage. I love doing work in it but at the same time I can't stand how everything is all over the fucking place.

And here is what I posted in the "What are you playing now thread" hope it helps.

Word to the wise if you or anyone else who reads this is thinking of collecting.

1. You need a lot of space. Right now I have these in my living room and they fit but if I buy anymore I'm going to move the collection to the garage.

2. Buy a game that goes on forever. Games similar to Donkey Kong, Pac-Man, Centipede, Crystal Castles, galaga.....

If you buy a game that only has 6 or 7 levels to it you're going to have a feeling of buyers remorse. Find games that are point / skill based. Level based games only works on consoles.

You obviously know the first part but the second part is key to a first time collector.

My garage has recently turned in to place where my wife dumps all the shit she just refuses to get rid of. :\

I know I at least want Smash TV. I dont give a fuck about levels and so forth. I can play the shit out of Smash TV forever. When I finally get around to it Ill probably doa MAME setup just so I can have lots of games on one cabinet. Plus you can have older console games on it as well.

But then again there is just something cool about having a classic cabinet. Even if it is a refurb job.

You should check out X-Arcade.com

They actually sell a MAME cabinet (Minus the Monitor) for a reasonable price. All you have to do is supply the PC / Console and you're good to go.

What's missing is the fact that arcades used to be a place to kill an afternoon. Now, with a console in every home, who needs to go to an arcade?

Smash TV. .

I wouldn't count Smash TV as a short game, so it's all good. I was referring to a game that you can beat very quickly. Something made for short bursts. Smash TV you can definitely sit down and play for quite a while.

I would if it was affordable. 25 cents a game for the oldies and some drinks makes for a good time.
