text and driving ban takes effect in massachusetts on 9/30 with junior drivers facing most serious charge. 1st time offender will get hit with $100 fine, 60 day license suspension and attitudinal courses. I hope massachusetts wont create laws for eating tacos and driving.

I know I'm in favor of harsh punishment for texting and riving. I don't think you should eat and drive either. Fucking pay attention to the road.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008_Chatsworth_train_collision

According to the National Transportation Safety Board (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Transportation_Safety_Board) (NTSB), which investigated the cause of the collision, the Metrolink train ran through a red signal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Signal_passed_at_danger) before entering a section of single track where the opposing freight train had been given the right of way by the train dispatcher (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Train_dispatcher). The NTSB faulted the Metrolink train's engineer for the collision, concluding that he was distracted by text messages (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Text_messaging) he was sending while on duty.

It's coming into effect in Maryland too.

The "mad wanker" was a dude in Philly who would pull alongside a woman's vehicle on the interstate, and, while driving at speed, proceed to jerk off. I'm thinking that should be banned as well.

Errrr, I think it is already illegal to do that.

There are already driving while distracted laws. This is just getting added to it.

I fail to see how this will protect us from terrorism.

Or fluoride.

:lol

Michigan already banned texting and driving back in July. I know a couple people personally who were involved in an accident due to driving while texting, and in both cases it was the other party's fault.

I think it's a great idea, but this is coming from someone with a phone from 2005 and no interest in texting anyway. Or driving for that matter.

Pretty sure it's been illegal here since the invention of the telephone.
