one of my all time favorite movies was "Jaws". to this day i still don't go to the beach. I was browsing through netflix today checking out movies based on peter benchley's work. Now if anything in the ocean was scary to man, peter benchley could bring that fear out like no one else. Only one film was dubbed horror, and yet peter benchley was regarded on the site as a horror author.

Taking his most famous work, Jaws as an example, do you think he deserves to be regarded as such? i've never even SEEN a copy of the book, but i hear it's a very strong foundation for the '75 film.

i'm looking for a copy but for anyone that has read it, would you consider it a horror story?

Thats why I will not watch the Squid and the Whale, because I like the bitch and I would hate to stop going there, and like posted earlier in the Candyman thread I only read the title and hate seafood.

the author of the book regrets writing it because he did no research on sharks prior to the novel.
