Anyone else excited about this game? I can't wait. Sure, Invisible War was a bit disappointing (despite the fact that I still had fun, it just didn't feel like Deus Ex), but from everything I've seen so far, this one is turning out to be very promising.

I'm withholding my judgment. All they had to do to make Invisible War a good sequel was keep almost everything from the original, and they didn't, and it was lame. I'm not fully convinced that they understand what made the original so great (the emergent gameplay elements, the myriad different ways to solve situations, etc).

From what I understand, they not only retained the multiple gameplay paths from the first one, they actually expanded slightly. You can run and gun, you can stealth, you can tranquilize, or you could conceivably talk your way out of every fight except the bosses.

I agree with the Doc. Deus Ex HR has a lot of potential to suck balls. As he said, it would´ve been pretty easy to make the second one as great as the original and they failed misserably. Now even more time has passed and look at the way videogames are made these days...the chances that it will be a worthy successor are slim at best.

Of course I do like suprises so please Deus Ex, suprise me by being totally aweseome again. You owe us that.

...by the way, you owe us too, System Shock.

This is where they usually go wrong.

Hey, deus ex 2 is a great game as long as you stop after you save that alien :O
or shotly thereafter

I believe they are going back to skills instead of everything being based on mods. Also, the mods will obviously be different, considering they aren't nanotech anymore, since this is a prequel. You'll actually be playing as a mech, which could be interesting, considering they were almost obsolete by the time the events of the first game occurred. It'll be interesting to see how they tie the events of this game with the events of the first.

Also, preorder exclusive mission includes different weapons and also a cameo from a character from the first game which will help expand on the mythos of the world the developers have created. I'll reserve final judgment, obviously, until I play the game, but I do believe this one has a LOT of promise. However, I will agree that, by the same token, it can also be a monumental failure, but I think the odds are in favor of it being good. The developers have acknowledged that IW was sub-par, and they listened to the fans of the first to find out where they went wrong.

I liked Invisible War, but it wasn't exactly a deep and immersible game. It boiled down to 'Hey, you got the guns! And the ammos! Don't forget to pick up mods so you can switch them out at any time, or just use the same powers over and over because really once you have the hacking mod the rest are useless. Hey, a robot!'
Also, for me, the last level was nothing but guided rockets. I just stood in the spawn area and guided rockets around the whole map, taking out as many targets as I could. Turns out, it was pretty much everyone on the map, since they just stood around, and didn't seem to care much when they got smacked in the face with a rocket.

The only thing I could think was OKAY AWESOME BUT PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE BE NOTHING LIKE ALPHA PROTOCOL.

Oh, Alpha Protocol wasn't that bad. It just needed someone to balance the shit.

It does look like there's a lot of the little intricacies from the original in that little trailer. Maybe this game won't suck after all.

I just dun wanna play another game based solely on good intentions. That trailer put me on the hype roller coaster and it'd be sad if the game doesn't live up to the expectation.

I'm looking foward to the new Deus Ex.

Had a lot of fun with the nameless mod as well.

Is Deus Ex really much like MGS, though? I never played it, but I always thought the gameplay ran more toward System Shock. Anyway, I have hopes for Human Revolution, since I like the sound of Deus Ex but I doubt Id get past its datedness.
