Did anyone watch this crap? (http://tv.popcrunch.com/20-20-charlie-sheen-watch-charlie-sheen-2020-interview-video/) I thought he was crazy before, but now it's official. Some notable moments...
"There's rumours you are bi-polar."
'I'm bi...winning! I win here. I win there. And move on.'
"So after all this is said and done, what will end up on your gravestone?"
'Something dot com. '
'I've got tiger blood and and extra terrestrial brain.'
'Even if I was bi-polar what helps then? Medicine? Become of of them?'
I'm paraphrasing (barely) but the bottom line is what the fuck? He said he does like 7gram rocks of coke daily. How is he even alive?

All I know is that his meltdown is funnier than any given episode of 2.5 Men.
And that "winning" is now a meme.

The sad (scary?) thing is that there's a little tiny mustard-seed grain of sense that pops up every once in a while. Guy probably feels cornered by hypocritical do-gooders anyway, which makes it worse.

I was listening to Preston and Steve and they had a contest where where they read quotes from either Charlie Sheen or Muammar Gaddafi and the listeners had to guess which one said the quote.
I think almost every caller got it wrong. That's how far gone Sheen is, people can't tell the difference between things he says and things Gaddafi says

There's a list on buzzfeed of some of the quotes as New Yorker Cartoons (http://www.buzzfeed.com/mjs538/charlie-sheen-quotes-as-new-yorker-cartoons). :lol

A warlock from Mars, no less.
I think it was in that same interview that he explained the reason he said things like that was because "the words sounds great together", or something like that.

If this is a stunt by Charlie. It's a good one, but I agree going after the boss of your show and the network like he has. Nope, not a smart career move. If he retains work, I will be surprised. I honestly don't remember the last person who really got blackballed from Hollywood.
It will be interesting how this works for him.

Mar 7th, 2011, 06:35 AM
the thing is regardless of the fact that he is a ticking time bomb, it is now painfully clear he draws a crowd (1 million twitter followers in a day commands attention). I expect while people will not want to hire him, someone will do so anyway because they will see dollar signs in it. Might be some reality show producer, or maybe a talk show producer, but someone will want to put that train wreck in front of a camera for profit.

Maybe this is a Joachim Phoenix type thing.
This is what I was thinking. He is acting crazy to drum up some publicity for himself. Started a twitter account that jumped to 1 million plus followers over night. Then asked for a 50% raise. He is just going about it better than Joachim did and is (bi?)winning at it.

I kind of want CBS to completely cave and give him $3 million an episode, just to see how many other celebrities stop behaving themselves once they realize that it doesn't matter, so long as their show is popular.

Is there a reason why it was so popular? Based on the episodes i've seen, it was just a by-the-numbers, unoriginal sitcom with an annoying as hell kid actor. Not as bad as Reba or Titus or whatever, but still pretty lame.
Dr. Boogie
Mar 9th, 2011, 02:33 PM
Because that's what people want from comedy: something familiar and easy.
There was a quote in Futurama that went something like this: "clever ideas make people feel stupid, and new ideas make people feel scared."

True, but there are shitloads of similar unfunny sitcoms that never amount to nothing, and some similar unfunny sitcoms that last for ages but get a lot smaller ratings than 2 1/2 men.

Ok, that explains it. It's really not advertised that much here compared to other shows on TV, so I thought it might be the same thing in other countries.

Mar 9th, 2011, 06:06 PM
Yeah, in L.A. it's on lots of bus stops and the channel that shows it constantly hyped it. I've heard a total of 2 minutes of it on a radio show that talked about how unfunny it is. They played clips with the canned laughter and it was sooooooooooooooooooooo horrible. Yet it's the number 1 show in America I guess.

He didn't plan for it to work this way guys, the amount of money he has can buy the best PR guys to do some great damage control. He's probably already undoing the awesome job they just did. You know, cause his brain is fried from drugs. Just means more work for them though, although the are probably on retainer.

Every time anyone in a forum or chat thing acts like a insane retard dickweed due to stupidity/not giving a shit/internet, and then pretends that they were only acting, no one believes them.
Now apply this to real life. Joaquin Phoenix goes on a bit of a bender, plays at retirement for kicks, and shows up on David Letterman stoned. The media and stupid people freak out, unable to understand what's going on. "What is wrong with Joaquin Phoenix? What are these 'recreational drugs' you speak of? Nothing makes sense. He must be insane. Very sad." Joaquin's artsy buddy gets the idea for a fake documentary. This in turn gives Joaquin the idea to pretend that all of this stoner bullshit was part of some elaborate BATMAN PLAN to make some grand comment on "celebrity", or something. Everyone nods wisely.
Now Charlie Sheen freaks out, and stupid people once again watch in amused confusion as fake experts jabber about his super definitely vaguely possible mental problems. Next step will either be the example shown above, suicide, rehab, or, god forbid, Major League III.

IT'S A WORK, GODDAMNIT. He snapped during a radio/tv interview, lost his kids, realized that a million+ Twitter followers means something when it comes to marketability, and decided going to capitalize on it. He signed a deal with fucking Live Nation and, directly after, ran around the roof of a building with a machete.
He's a cornball and this is a fucking WORK
Dr. Boogie
Mar 11th, 2011, 05:08 PM
But doing it cost him a part where he was making $2 million an episode. I feel like he's not going to be making quite that much on Live Nation. I suppose he could try to convince his 2 million Twitter followers to send him a dollar a week.
It sounds like the argument here is whether he's crazy, or just stupid.
Tadao
Mar 11th, 2011, 05:18 PM
Both, I consider inflated egos to be a sign of stupidity. This is not some master plan, it's just damage control. You gotta look at it step by step, cause that's how the PR boys have to work. He totally fucked up and the boys fixed it, then the world decided that CS being crazy is the best thing in the world and his ego exploded again. He's gonna be an used cum rag soon because he just won't do it any more for America really soon. That's when he will proclaim the great performance that he was brought to us.
