I think I can still win if Richmond tops Morehead State and Gonzaga makes it all the way to the elite eight before faltering to Pitt. I had no idea about VCU until they destroyed Georgetown so I guess this new 68 team thing is something I underestimated. I just hope my sweet 16 will be all intact (minus Georgetown of course).

The 68 team field is irrelevant. VCU usually makes a nice little run every few years, although this year's team barely got it in so maybe that explains why not many people picked them to do anything really, myself included.

Pentegarn
Mar 19th, 2011, 09:48 PM
K State still has Wisky to deal with, and that is not going to be an easy fight for them at all. Moreover if BYU keeps playing like this and Florida won't make it out of their match

Also too right about Thrillho's bracket. Poor Milpool, 122 max score puts his bracket's weight at the bottom

WhiteRat

At least you have football. How many Big 10 football programs can say they've lost two games against 1AA schools from the Dakotas in the last 3 years? Basketball at one point this year beat North Carolina, WVU, and Purdue, was ranked 13th in the country, then lost their most dynamic scorer and only competent point guard (transfer and foot injury) and promptly lost 10 out of 11 and no post season play. Hockey? 8 years removed from back to back National Championships and now the Gophers are getting swept at home by Alaska-Anchorage and missing the playoffs for the 3rd straight year (first time ever that's happened). Not to mention losing recruiting battles to other in-state schools.

Just remember that no matter how bad your athletic department is doing, it could always be worse like Minnesota. :(

Your last statement is correct - it doesn't count.

If you picked the losers instead of the winners, then you'd have to pick ALL the losers from the very beginning, and this would be an entirely different pool altogether. It might be fun to try it once (as a separate bracktbunch bracket?), to see who could come closest to obtaining zero points. Maybe next year ....

Oh serious question. I see.

No you have to have the winning team picked, so if you picked someone else to knock off Florida in that round, but they lost previously, you can't score points for the team that beat them doing so because you did not predict them getting there in the first place. That's why the further along your predictions are correct, the more points they are worth.

Obviously everyone would pick the 16 seeds in the final four, but then there's the little nuances that would make it interesting, such as this year with the guaranteed Sweet 16 spot for a 12 or 13 seed. We should try it next year :sports

Now that all of my Final Four teams are no longer in the tournement, I will gracefully bow out of the 4th annual I-Mockery Bracket Bunch.

This year is an even bigger slap in the face than years past as I felt I did pretty damn well in the first two rounds. I honestly thought I had a shot at winning the prestigious honor of I-Mockery Basketball Prediction King (Collegiate Edition).

At least I can still cling on to my historic victory back in 2002 when my winning bracket netted me 250 big ones in a pool at my dad's work. After 9 years it still carries weight, right? Right?

Now if you'll excuse me i'll be recovering in the burn ward for the next year.

It's interesting how I'm suddenly back in the game

EDIT: Nevermind, Flagg and whoever maildude is has UNC in the Final Four too. Can't win :(

Rooting for the Colonel in this one because he's got a PhD and that's awesome and I don't know who maildude is >:

This is officially the worst I have ever done on the brackets.

I wasn't even being a homer when I picked OSU in the finals, I figured they would actually bother to show up for yesterday's game >:

Way to represent the Big Ten OSU >: >:

Very good game between OSU and Kentucky. Diebler hit a very clutch 3 and Knight just realized how much time him and his wildcats had and hit a shot with 5.1 seconds left. Good news for Buckeyes fans, at least Sully is coming back.

Butler deserves the Final Four after that victory over Florida. What a comeback.

I regret not realizing Butler is a lumbering Juggernaut sooner. I might have still had a horse in this game

Lumbering Juggernaut? Butler? No, my friend you were obviously thinking instead about VCU. Bitches ruined my hopes of winning this thing two years in a row. :tear

At this moment I have the highest possible points? How the hell did that happen?

BACK IN THE GAME :eek

CONGRATULATIONS WILLIE

And congrats Babs and Pentegarn, you were the only two to pick a correct Final Four team

This is only the second time a final four had no number 1 seeds. Last time was 2006, another fucked up year where George Mason (another 11) made it to the final four

VCU's success is entirely due to their coach. He is selling a bunch of tier 2/tier 3 talent that they are blue chippers and they are buying it and producing like blue chippers. The only person who thought VCU would do this was the VCU head coach

So, that was Willie who won? Congratulations, big guy. You sure showed us!

Isn't this the earliest the bracketbunch was completely decided (no one has any more possible points to achieve)? And the lowest winning score (61 points)?

Does it really matter? This is the first time in history that a team that had to play itself into the tournament won even one game, let alone make the Final Four.

I don't care what he's feeding that team, I want some. Maybe it's some of that new drug, charliesheen.

Winning.

To be fair, a play in 11 seed is vastly different than a play in 16 seed. That said they still stunned everyone but the VCU coach

To be fair, a play in 11 seed is vastly different than a play in 16 seed.

Yeah I thought about that. But still VCU had to win 1 more game than everyone else in the final 4, and they are the only team to upset (according to the seedings) every team they've played in the tourney. Butler was seeded 8th, and beat the 9 seed Old Dominion in Round 1.

On the other hand this is the year of the 11 seed. The Zags beat St. Johns before getting ousted, and Marquette went to the Sweet Sixteen. The only 11 seed to get beat in Round 1 was Mizzou.

Now that it's just for fun, I'm pulling for VCU to go ALL. THE. WAY.

And win it you did! And since you used a computer to win, I think a computer should congratulate you! :lol

So congrats to Willie for winning the first bracket bunch where nobody had any teams left 2 rounds before it was all finished

Womti is the most persistent person ever. I ban his ass every two months and he keeps coming back and without being inconspicuous about his identity.

There was a thread where someone posted a bunch of local newspaper articles related to his homeless misdemeanors and it was very lol.

Also, if you ever see another Esuohlim elsewhere on the internet it's most likely him. He got a myspace and something like a vampirepornlivejournalfuckfetish.com account with that username but kept all his usual womti bio and avatars for them.
