I absolutely loved the first game and didn't even realize the sequel was already out. Has anybody picked it up yet? If so, what do ya think of it so far?

I just got it but I havent really started playing it yet. From the demo it seems to be much better than Infamous 1. I really like the new voice actor for Cole, it makes him seem human now.
You can also carry over your saves from Infamous to get some little boosts. Find all the dead drops in the first game and your start off with more exp, max out your battery cores and you start out with an extra one, be a hero/dick and you can start off with your alignment already set.

I got it. Just beat it last night as good Cole. Its great, especially if you liked the first one. I really like how they did the good powers vs the evil ones. Finding all the shards, while still a bit of a pain, wasnt as bad as the first. If your really having trouble you can unlock a power to help you track them down. I could go on and on but the bottom line is if you liked the first one go pick it up.

I agree on that. I´ve only played 2 or 3 hrs but it´s basically InFamous 1.5 but in a good way. Everythings the same but more polished and I really like how they wrote "Evil" Cole (not that I would be any different if I was that far above the rest of humanity evolution-wise)...so yeah, it´s good fun.

Are his powers more varied? My biggest problem with the original was that he was basically carrying around electrical versions of all the standard third-person shooter weapons (machine gun, shotgun, rocket launcher, etc).

He basically has that same set up but depending on your karma you unlock variants of those powers that change it up a bit. My favorite was the redirection rockets. You can fire them off somewhere then they home in on whoever you hit with your regular blast. But yeah, still very shooter like.

Some new powers were that you can lift objects, such as cars, and launch them at people. A lightning tether that acts like a grappling hook of sorts. The big bad power you get at the end of the first one where you call down a massive lightning bolt is replaced with being able to summon an ionic vortex, which is like a lightning tornado thing, get get rather early. It also has some variants depending on your karma.

I like the powerset better in the second one. Especially the grenades seem to have been upgraded quite a bit, at least the evil ones.
Napalm Grenades are a real treat midgame and the Nightmare Blast is a lifesaver (very short range but stuns enemies)
And I really really enjoy the Vortex. One of my main gripes with the first game was that you had to wait for the last hour of the game to get your Smartbomb. This time, you get it after one or two hours and you have the ressources to use it very very often.
What´s the second ionic Power if you´re a good Cole btw?

Beat it as evil Cole.
That...was awesome. The Midgame was stupid thanks to Nix but the last Mission? Fuck yeah. THAT´S how it´s done.
