Aaaaaaand we shit the bed vs Nashville. Back to the basement!

Kitsa
Jan 29th, 2014, 11:20 AM
We're starting to do the same punitive goalie crap that LA's been doing. Bob gives up a few goals? Bench him and put in McElhinney. McElhinney gives up a few goals? Shame shame, start Bob!

It's the only way they learn.

Kitsa
Jan 29th, 2014, 12:22 PM
Rub their nose on the ice, too.

Edit: That aside, I was doing a lot of WTF-ing at the screen last night as the Jackets had opportunities of bumper-bowling calibre, big holes in Ottawa's defense, missed opportunities left and right, and fucking SHOOTING WIDE ON A WIDE OPEN EMPTY NET. We deserved the loss.

Tadao
Jan 29th, 2014, 12:54 PM
Quick keeps getting scored on from the blue line and points. Fucking Olympics seem to be fucking with his head. I've never seen him this distracted.

Kitsa
Jan 29th, 2014, 03:37 PM
Same with Bob. When they benched him, they kept the camera on him and he just looked dazed.

Whew! 3 game losing streak over and bob once again beating ovechkin.

Tadao

Hahahha they pulled Quick and put in Jones. Crazy times.

Kitsa
Jan 31st, 2014, 06:28 AM
We had fight after fight last night, which always seems to happen when two teams are battling for a spot in the standings.

Ovechkin shot on Bob, Bob deflected that shit like he had Wonder Woman bulletproof cuffs. Ovechkin skated over and said something to him, and the announcers are like, "OVIE'S CONGRATULATING BOB ON THAT EXCELLENT SAVE, SAYS, I HOPE YOU HAVE MORE LIKE THAT IN THE OLYMPICS NEXT WEEK". How the fuck would they know? He could have said absolutely anything. You couldn't see their faces, they weren't mic'd, and it was probably in Russian. He could have told him to go fuck himself, he could have reminded him to pack toilet paper, it could have been anything.

I frequently find commentator-prattle irritating, that might be why.

Tadao
Jan 31st, 2014, 11:41 AM
Our commentators have no color. It's strictly business and very boring. Sometimes if I've been drinking it can lull me to sleep. :lol

American announcers for hockey are universally bad, except for a few in the Original Six markets. Gotta listen to some Canadian guys for quality announcing. :posh

Kitsa
Feb 1st, 2014, 11:40 AM
Our announcers are very accessible. They have a desk near the cannon, at the top of a section just off the concourse, and you can just walk up as they're doing postgame. It's kind of cool to watch. You can also look up as you're standing in line to get in and there's usually someone with a camera taking pics of the crowd.

This is the Jumbotron guy. When we took my daughter to her first game last year, she fell asleep (despite the crowd being louder than I'd ever heard and the fucking cannon going off all the time). The people around us were laughing. The jumbotron guy came over and was sitting in an empty seat beside us, ready for the shot the next time they got to him. He was just about to when the guy got back to his seat and he had to move- gave up and went back up the steps :(

Good solid win tonight vs Florida, a team I frequently forget exists.

So we were out today at an ice cream place and mr kitsa is wearing a jackets hoodie, and the guy strikes up a conversation about the season. And just as I say something, he shoots me this look like, quiet, woman, the men are talking.

I had a mad impulse to create all sorts of chaos, up to and including telling him just scoop the fucking ice cream, bitch. But then I remembered that the only reasons women like hockey are to impress men or to lust after players, right?

What a fuckwit.

Tadao

Kitsa
Mar 10th, 2014, 09:50 PM
No, the Stars center has a heart condition and he had some sort of event on the bench- it was freaky as hell, there was utter confusion and they didn't get play stopped for several minutes, they thought at first that a linesman was down and then we saw the Stars coach and someone else literally running into the back with a player, didn't even wait for a medic...play was delayed for quite some time and then eventually the game was called. It was weird seeing them ordering all players and staff to leave.

Wow that sucks, I wonder what happened to him. Kinda odd to be fine and then just collapse. Sounds like a silent killer type of thing.

We just won 8 games in a row.

Kitsa
Mar 11th, 2014, 07:52 AM
Cool, almost caught up to our streak then :P

From what I understand, this was just diagnosed earlier in the season and has been plaguing him on and off. Apparently he just collapsed on the bench, they had to do chest compressions and defib him and everything. Both team's doctors worked on him and then they got him out of there.

I've never seen play suspended that long since the Malarchuk footage and I've never seen a game just completely called like that. They said that his Dallas teammates were rattled as were both coaches (Richards used to coach him too) and that it would not be fair to continue. It looks as if they are going to make up the game after the last regular season game.

Kitsa
Mar 12th, 2014, 09:23 AM
We beat the Redwings pretty handily. They were decimated by injuries and the guy in goal was only on his 9th NHL game, but I'll take the win because I fucking hate the Redwings.

I was reading the comments about the Stars player that collapsed and there are all these idiots going GO RED WINGS and it's like what in the everloving fuck do the Red Wings have to do with any of this? This is why people hate Red Wings fans.

Kitsa
Mar 12th, 2014, 09:27 AM
Also, at home games they almost always cut away to the concession stand between periods and it's usually something gross, like someone turning big slabs of bacon-on-a-stick on a revolving griddle, but the last few times it has been these amazing looking brownies that are covered with chocolate glaze to look like pucks with a Jackets logo on them. And BY DAMN I WILL HAVE ONE.

Nash-Bobrovsky fight? What the fuck planet am I on?

"I'm their hero now, bitch!"

Kitsa
Mar 21st, 2014, 08:59 PM
Oh, this is fucking hilarious.

Nash was standing ahead of Bob to his left, not looking at him. Bob reached out and punched him hard in the calf with the goalie stick. Completely instigated it, which is unfathomably out of character. Nash went down, got up, turned around, Bob made a menacing gesture. Nash charged him and was promptly swarmed by all remaining Jackets.

After that, every Jacket seems to be trying to instigate individually, usually the same way. Calvert just did it again, they keep knocking Nash on his ass. Jackets just scored and Rangers scored like 30 seconds later. What a game! Wish I was there for this one.

Kitsa
Mar 21st, 2014, 09:51 PM
LOL, what did I tell you, Columbus fucking hates anyone who gets traded. YOU'RE FUCKING DEAD TO US. Especially since Nash asked to be traded. His tribute even got booed.

Tadao
Mar 22nd, 2014, 12:06 PM
ahahaahahhahah wtf this is crazy

Kitsa
Mar 22nd, 2014, 05:28 PM
For starters, Bob was baiting him.

In the first period, Nash had his back to Bob and was crowding the crease. Bob extended his stick and gave him a sharp poke in the calf, and he went down. Nash looked for a penalty and got nothing. I think he also did a slash that first period.

The really big one happened just after the Nash goal that was waved off. He made to pick up his stick and Bob made to use his own stick to hoist it toward him. Just as Nash reached out, Bob gave his stick a shove and sent Nash's stick sliding just out of reach. Nash jumped up and gave Bob a hard shove in the throat and then all hell broke loose. By all reports, Bob was laughing. Jackets came flying out of nowhere and started pounding.

Then later, Matt Calvert fought Nash again, and did a very similar calf-jab move to knock him down. It was nuts.

So yeah, even though I'm a diehard Jackets fan and Bob's our guy, I have to admit here that Bob was being a dick, which was highly unusual for him. He and Nash both usually go the hardworker, above-that-shit route. It was taunting and it was dick moves out of Bob left and right, and it would almost have to just be some sort of assertion of dominance, like, "My team now, bitch."

I don't know. Guys are stupid. I was mainly just sort of amazed it happened at all. I wonder who gave Bob villain lessons.

I always feel like such a fucking grandma when I do the bracket thing. I always forget that "Entry" means "your name" and then I sit here wondering why the fucking thing won't save

Kitsa

I hope columbus proves me wrong and goes all the way. I'm just happy they're in the playoffs, really.

Colonel Flagg
Apr 14th, 2014, 12:25 PM
This is the first year I'm picking realistically. The Flyers are not going all the way. :(

Tadao
Apr 14th, 2014, 01:11 PM
THEY BETTER NOT!

Colonel Flagg
Apr 14th, 2014, 03:57 PM
If it makes you feel any better, neither are the Kings.

Kitsa
Apr 14th, 2014, 06:08 PM
Yeah, I had the Kings lasting about as long as my beloved Jackets :(

Colonel Flagg
Apr 14th, 2014, 07:56 PM
For the second time in my I-Mock history I am picking my most hated team to win the championship. With my usual luck, they'll go 4-and-out. :(

Kitsa
Apr 14th, 2014, 08:15 PM
I fucking hate the Redwings, and I fucking hate Philly, and I fucking hate Boston. Any year they don't win is a good year for me.

Colonel Flagg

For me it's more of a Philly fan in LA thing, they are some of the most disgusting idiots I've come across. It's like a basketball game. Just because Kings fans don't beat you up or even talk shit to you at the bar give you freedom to act like a fucking drunk asshole.

Kitsa
Apr 15th, 2014, 12:04 AM
There is definitely that. Philly fans, Pens fans and especially fucking BOSTON fans are the WORST at Nationwide. Just fucking drunk sloppy assholes.

Colonel Flagg

You guys should see the football nitwits. They make the hockey imbeciles look like Albert Einstein in comparison.

Colonel Flagg

I had CBJ going pretty far until I read this and was all hmmmmm, maybe I should rethink this. :(

Colonel Flagg
Apr 17th, 2014, 09:55 PM
And, the Flyers gave as good as they got, until they get sloppy in the third period, take a stupid double-minor penalty and give up 2 goals in less than a minute. Situation normal on the road against the Rangers this year.

Oh well ....

Tadao
Apr 18th, 2014, 12:30 AM
Ouch, I don't know if I want to watch 3rd period.

I hate the duck fucks but they're leading the series right now I think :(

I am sitting here furious because Fox Sports Ohio is suddenly baseball and they cut out pregame on NHL-NBCHD for some hockey history movie. I would be happy to revisit canada-ussr later but my game is on NOW, fucking dammit. Now I am just watching nhl.com refresh.

Colonel Flagg

It looked like the Jackets left the ice around the middle of the period.

The last goal was insane - did it actually ricochet off the defenseman?

Kitsa
Apr 22nd, 2014, 07:50 AM
I can't even remember, lol.

I love my Jackets, but this is typical for them...start off insanely strong in the first, tread water in the second, drown in the third.

Also watched Ducks-Stars. Robidas. DAMN. As someone who rebroke an ankle a couple of months ago, watching him try to get up was nauseating. They say this fracture is right next to his other one from earlier in the season.

Kitsa
Apr 23rd, 2014, 08:47 AM
I think I won the bracket, or at least got closest to it. My reward was the Jackets in the playoffs and their first playoff win ever, lol. They're getting closer.

I know it's all points but their persistent inability to get into the playoffs sort of confuses me. They're not a consistently terrible team and they have really brilliant flashes. Before Bob, I said that the Jackets chew up good goalies and spit them out. Leclaire had some amazing seasons...not Vezina-amazing, but times that he was just like a puck-repelling animal. I'll always have a soft spot for Leclaire and his weirdass interviews. Mason's first season, everyone thought he was a prodigy. Then they both sort of tanked as goalies...Leclaire being the hockey version of Glass Joe and Mason being fucking Mason. And when we had Nash, everyone joked that the whole team was swinging from Nash's nuts.

I was at the game last season when everyone thought our win meant we made the playoffs, and it was insane. I have never heard Nationwide that loud. And then everyone found out like 15 minutes later that...I think it was Minnesota? Had won their game and we were out of the playoffs. Columbus really deserves a fair showing :(

Colonel Flagg
Apr 23rd, 2014, 01:31 PM
I'm pulling for the Jackets, since it's almost a foregone conclusion the Flyboys will drop 2 more before winning 3. Sad, really, that they are the stinking Rangers' bitches this year.

Sad for me, that is. I know the rest of you are doing the happy dance. >:

Kitsa
Apr 24th, 2014, 08:19 AM
that was nuts. They came back from a 3-nothing. Typically when Dubinsky scores, everyone yells DUUUUUUB. This time it was like,

So much for "Blackhawks Down" :|

In other news, it looks like that hit in the head ... excuse me, that "upper body injury" brought out Mason's inner goalie. He looked amazing last night.

Please, please please let Ray Emery develop butt-sores from sitting on the bench.

Kitsa
Apr 26th, 2014, 07:16 PM
Mason is just such a jackass.

Colonel Flagg
Apr 26th, 2014, 07:48 PM
Maybe so, but some of the saves he made last night were insane.

Don't get me wrong, I was very angry when we traded Bob, but I really think the change of scenery was good for him, plus he's developing quite an edge - and I approve. (The stick-tossing incident brought back memories of Ron Hextall, who was the king of "dick moves".) I hope the BJ fans approve as well.

Mason seems, at least on the surface, to have had a similar transformation in Philly. Only time will tell.

For now, just keep stopping the puck, guys.

Kitsa
Apr 26th, 2014, 08:13 PM
I approve of any and all Hexty-like behavior. I agree.

Mason developed quite a big head during his first season as a starter here. It could be that I resented Leclaire's departure, but every interview the guy gave he seemed like a bigger and bigger asshat.

Kitsa
Apr 27th, 2014, 09:33 AM

Kitsa

Empty net, Crosby shoots, goes off the post.

Tell me why people worship this guy again?

Well, that was both shocking and entertaining. Mason, once again, stood on his head. With the exception of garbage time, he saved everything the blue-dogs threw at him. Asshat, maybe, but he is playing some great hockey.

Apparently there's a rumor he and Hexty had it out and he waived his no-movement clause.

I didn't hear anything about a falling out wih Hexy, but there may have been a clash of personalities there. His production was tapering off over the last few seasons, and he does have 2 more years on his contract than Umby. The overall feeling here is that it is a "one-for one" swap, talent-wise, with the Flyers getting a little more flexibility (glass instead of cement) with their cap situation.

Sad to see him go - he's a good guy. You'll like him.
