Why do we drink water in bottles? Why dont we pay the taxes to keep water clean like we used to? and did anyone ELSE notice that ever since we started buying water, we were told we should drink 8 bottles of water a DAY to be healthy?

I don't know? Why the fuck do you drink water in bottles? I drink tap water. I live in Minneapolis, so I don't know about those big cities...is it really so bad in the big cities that it's actually unsafe to drink tap water? And if it's not, and the tap water's fine, again, why the fuck do you drink water in bottles?

N YC actually has some of the best tap water in the country. New Jersey water actually makes me ill.

Anyway, part of it is because its trendy, but there is a utility to it. Its nice to be able to just reach into your pocket while you are walking around and wet your whistle.

Our tap water is actually yellow to brown with heavy minerals in it. Would you want to drink that?

Do those fun little filters you can attach to your faucet actually work? I know they make the water taste a little better here, but I've never seen them tried in a place with nigh-undrinkable water.

Yes they do work. At least on our sludge. Though we tend to use one of the filter pitchers we keep in the fridge. I like my water cold.

There are places in the world where the water they drink is filled with bacteria and feces. I think a little "bad taste" in my tap water is OKAY.

Yeah, but certain kinds of minerals naturally present in the water is just as bad for as bacteria and feces if they are not filtered out ... and that may well be the "funny taste" they're discussing. There is so much mercury present in the river that borders my city that, at times, they tell you not to eat the fish from there and I'm damn near drinking unfilitered water from there if that's the case. It's all part of the same ecosystem and if it's in THAT water, it's probably even in the water table for the whole area (i.e. wells and such).
