I don't get your point with the first statement, i wish i could find numbers but i would be willing to bet that more children watch the x-games than adults.

As for the second point i never said that i thought that all the things that eXtreme marketing and sports are selling children but this is just a chance to show the marketeers my distaste.

This should be where the parents step in and stop letting children watch ESPN2 or any of those other networks that carry this adult orentated programming.

Maybe this wouldn't mean so much to me if i didn't have a little brother who watches this garbage.

Don't get me wrong, I dont think that the government should step in and start regulating who advertises where, i just think that corporations should have some responsibility and not advertise adult products on programming that attracts youth.

Blah blah blah. Yeah, they advertise to kids. But kids are going to smoke no matter what. It's not about a unified force called "the tobacco industry" trying to get them hooked and create new customers. It's brands jockeying for that part of the market that would exist without even without advertising. I say more power to them. It's Joe Camels fault that kids smoke Camels instead of Kools, not that they smoke in the first place.

I agree, everyone knows what smoking is. There is pressure from every direction on the issue. "Don't smoke" at school, from parents, from family, from friends, from the government. They are going to know what smoking is, and what it does. They don't need advertising for that, it's already done.

Ads don't make the kids smoke. Simple as that. It's their role models who are to blame!

It's kinda like when you are 8 and you see your papa smokin, so you take a cigarette and try it out... And get sick. But none-the-less, you are smoking because your dad did it, and he's your role model.

And too many kids already smoke.. Maybe that company is just trying to get them to switch brands

Just because kids will smoke regardless of advertising says does not make it moral or ethical to market ciggaretts to children. 13 year old boys will still take there fathers porn and look at it, that doesn't mean that it is all-right for hustler to advertise on cartoon network.

Kinda different way to think of it is, if toboacco companies are going to be continuosly banned from media which might be viewed by children, then where can the tobacco industry adverties.

I mean off course children are going to watch the Xgames and i am against advertising there, but everywhere tobacco companies are being shot down and denied the right to advertise because kids could see it.
