DAMMIT! >:
I didn't have the money today, but I planned to put ATHF or SGC2C on Lay Away at Wal-Mart, but they didn't have any! >:
Plus, Hasting's already sold their copies. When i get paid, I'll order ATHF then SGC2C. >:
On a good note, Sealab 2021 has already broke the 24 episode mark, so a DVD should be on the way soon. I hope. :(

Well, this is Vol. 1 right? The first episodes were for kids and late viewers, so that's why/ WHen it progresses on to the later episodes Adult Swim premired, then it may be under a different section.

Actually, there are only four episodes that were cut from the Space Ghost DVD set. The reason they gave on the credits from last night's Adult Swim was because they didn't want to fork out the hideous amount of money that Jim Carrey wanted to put those episodes on disc (as well as a few other people). So, to fuck them over, CN is airing a marathon of those episodes in January....they also highly suggested any bootleggers to get prepared.
As for finding them, here you go:
Space Ghost Coast to Coast DVD. (https://secure.deepdiscountdvd.com/dvd.cfm?itemid=WBD006709)
Aqua Teen Hunger Force DVD. (http://www.dvdpricesearch.com/cgi-bin/goto?st=deepdiscountdvd&ty=title&id=WBD006708)
There you go.

The episodes missing are
Episode 9: Self Help (Dr. Joyce Brothers, Rich Hall, Anka Radakovich) I wanted this on DVD because Anka Radakovich is a fox. I hope SHES not the one keeping the episode from appearing on DVD. But I have a feeling it was Dr. Joyce.
The Mask (Jim Carrey, Charles Russell) This was created for the Mask home Video. Before the movie there is a ten second clip of Space Ghost, telling everybody to watch his interview with Jim Carrey and the director Charles Russell after the movie. The interviews last about 6 minutes long, and Space Ghost mostly just promotes his show on Cartoon Network (which was very new at the time). Jim Carrey undoubtly asked for a lot of money for this to be on the DVD.
Episode 10: Gum, Disease (Branford Marsalis, Danny Bonaduce) I wanted this on DVD because I've never seen it, ever. You can pretty much guess who held up the episodes from appearing on DVD by picking out who is most famous. (Danny Bonaduce)
A Space Ghost Christmas (Kevin Meany) Kevin Meany appears, but it's just footage from the episode he was in, which IS on the DVD anyway. So we can conclude that it's not a LEGAL issue as to why this episode isn't on DVD, but it's a matter of logic. This episode wasn't really a REAL episode, but it was a collection of Christmas themed bumpers, that framed 3 "best" episodes. They show this usually yearly, and they show different episodes each year. The bumpers with commercials and episodes cut out are about 9 minutes long in lenth. They included ONE of the bumpers on the DVD, and called it a "Cartoon Planet" sketch, which it's not.
President's Day Nightmare (Craig McCracken, Pat Ventura, Van Partible, Eugene Mattos, Genndy Tartakovsky, Dian Parkinson) I can't be sure if they just felt it was unessesary to include this on the DVD, or if it was a legal issue. What this was was a special where 5 people showed part of their cartoons, and the winning cartoon got their cartoon showed at the end. Craig McCraken won, and the very first episode of "The Powerpuff Girls" debuted on this show. This show was simulcast on TNT and TBS along with Cartoon Network. It also featured the very first glimpses of Johnny Bravo, and Dexter's Lab.
Episode 11a: Le Livre D'Histoire (Jim Carrey, Charles Russell, James Kirkconnell, Carl Clark) This episode was basically just a clip show, featuring Lokar showing clips of past episodes ("The Mask" and "Story Book House"). Since "The Mask" couldn't be cleared, neither could this episode, obviously.
Also missing: The "Contact Ghost Planet" thing that used to show up at the ends of the episodes (this can be understood, contact information like that can become outdated very quickly), The screens showing the episode numbers, the "Ghost Planet" logo, and also on the "Sleeper" episode, they cut off an after credits bit where Space Ghost is alone in the studio, asking if anybody is there, and at the end of "Explode" they cut off ANOTHER after-credits bit where they do a mock BBC screen/annoucement (like on Monty Python's Flying Circus) where a voice over says something like "on BBC 2, Ghost Planet explodes." That's just sloppy DVD production.

Ok so I got the ATHF DVD today and I ordered SGC2C today as well. Yay/
I have a question about the ATHF DVD easter eggs. So far I found three, but are there more? I found the one with Frylok's eyes, Shake's straw, and Carl's medallion. If you could tell me the others I would appreciate it.

Meatwad's Igloo hole. I forget where. And on the first disk (I think?) in the first "episode selection" screen, highlight "play all" (I think?) and then hit up. the 109 above the door should be highlighted and it will play a full (1.5 minute) version of
Assisted Living Dracula."
Maybe it's on disk two, now that I think of it, but just go into episode selection menus and hit "9."

I still believe there MAY be another easter egg on the ATHF DVD. They said in a commentray tha they did make a full-length version of Vegtable Man. Is it in it? :(
Jixby Phillips
Dec 13th, 2003, 02:59 AM
I don't think so. I looked at each title individually (without accessing them from any menu) and this is everything.
The difference between Assisted Living Dracula and Vegtible Man (This could be wrong), is that Assisted Living Dracula was shot FOR the ATHF episode. Vegtible Man (along with the film they are watching in the pilot episode), is a short film they made before the series.

When I first saw commercials for Space Ghost im comic books.. I was aroused.
So I downloaded some like yesterday ( because I kept forgettin) and Space Ghost is a fabulous show. Not too sure about ATHF though, its a bit less funny due to all the gay/ass jokes, but still good moments.
I love Space Ghost because of the crappy animation that makes you feel like its a good ol' show from the 80's.
Anyone has the story on when that show first aired, or who makes it, who made space ghost etc? Because in the credits is says Hanna Barbera 1966.. yet its the Episode with the Hansons.
If they're one DVD I'm ever going to buy ( because I don't own even ONE lol) that's the one.

What? I couldn't remember a single (unironic) gay/ass joke from ATHF if you paid me. Seriously, if you're watching ATHF and the only thing you can remember are gay jokes, then you are lost.

Actually most of the animation used is from the '60s

Space Ghost Coast to Coast started in 1994. The characters and most of the animation is from a kids show in 1966. The whole premise of this show is that they took a superhero from the '60s, and made him a talk show host. Heres's more, if you're really interested:
http://homegame.org/canvas/old/ghostfaq.html#One
It's just a little outdated - It says the show is on hiatus, but right now it's currently showing new episodes; also it's before Adult Swim started.
If they're one DVD I'm ever going to buy ( because I don't own even ONE lol) that's the one.
Just a warning, a lot of the earlier shows are a little rough to get through compared to the later episodes. It's like the first season of the simpsons, if you will. But it's still worth owning.

Thanks Mr. Jixby. Boy that must have been one hell of a Kid's Show.
Well ATHF might not have gay jokes then.. maybe its the fact that it has that "gettho" feel that makes me subcontiously put it down since I hate that kind of music. Or maybe its because I've been watching Space Ghost at the same time.
But I'm not going to say ATHF is a bad show. Definately not. I wish I had Adult Swim :/ So I could just tape episodes. Like I'd do it anyways.

The only thing that is obviously "newbish" in the earlier episodes (besides the lame guests) was the voicing. They were trying to sound like superheros and supervillians from the 60's, and they ended up sounding like robots. The jokes were still very funny though.

Roger gave me the Space Ghost DVD for Christmas (and I got him and Re the 3rd season of Mr. Show :rock). I've never seen the earliest episodes of Space Ghost so I don't really know what I'm in store for but I'll try not to expect it to be as sharp as the newer episodes. I really look forward to sitting down and watching them though. When does this $20.01 thing happen? I take it that's sort of a turning point?
Jixby Phillips
Dec 22nd, 2003, 04:07 PM
$20.01 is actually the next episode after the last episode on Vol. 1. They interview Joel Hodgeson (who also wrote the "Urges" episode which is on the vol. 1 set).
My favorite episode on the set is the Storybook House episode. It's episodes like that that makes Space Ghost truly awesome.
