Participant at KKK initiation wounded after shots fired into sky

JOHNSON CITY, Tennessee (AP) -- A bullet fired in the air during a Ku Klux Klan initiation ceremony came down and struck a participant in the head, critically injuring him, authorities said.

Gregory Allen Freeman, 45, was charged with aggravated assault and reckless endangerment in the Saturday night incident that wounded Jeffery S. Murr, 24.

About 10 people, including two children, had gathered for the ceremony. The man who was being initiated was blindfolded, tied with a noose to a tree and shot with paintball guns as Freeman fired a pistol in the air to provide the sound of real gunfire, Sheriff Fred Phillips said.

A bullet struck Murr on the top of the head and exited at the bottom of his skull, authorities said.

Freeman fled the ceremony but was arrested near his home, authorities said. He was released on $7,500 bail.

I'm kinda suprised they have initiation ceremonies. I thought all you had to do was hate ******s and you could get in.

The name "Ku Klux Klan" is in the public domain now. Anybody can start an organization and call it the KKK, so I would imagine that their initations vary...

It's about time, Max. I knew there was something cold and hard under that soft squishy exterior of yours. :)

This also makes me wonder how many other people each year get hit by bullets falling from the sky... :confused

Wouldn't a bullet go into space?

No, gravity pulls it back down to earth.

What I'm wondering is how the FUCK does a bullet enter a man when it's coming down again due to the gravitational pull of the earth. A bullet is like 50 grams or lighter or something, it's supposed to come down and hurt a lot, not break your skull open.

Ah. So simple. I feel silly now.

If you payed attention in Physics you would know that a bullet will have the same velocity coming down as it did leaving the barrel of the gun, negating terminal velocity(which is very high for a bullet).

Oh. okay, but we didn't have that in physics yet. I'm a young bastard. :(

Kind of bittersweet irony, isn't it?

Using this shining example, firing of weapons should be a manditory activity in all KKK related outings....
Let them kill themselves with stupidity.

They all should be beaten to death anyway.

Yeah most likely, but if I wanted to be liked I wouldn't be posting here.

Yes, I will admit I don't like hate mongers, but to a degree I am one myself against those who are to begin with.

A hypocrite that can admit it is better than one that is so far gone they actually believe their own bullshit.
