View Full Version : Minus world in Allstars SMB?

I always heard that (for SMB Allstars) Nintendo fixed the graphical glitch that allowed one to get through the wall (and on the way to the minus world) at the end of 1-2 but the other day I tried it out of boredom and I found that it was just as easy to get through the wall as before except when I went down the pipe I got to world 4-1. Did they completely take out the minus world or not? My friend claims to have gotten into the minus world by continuing to 4-1 and jumping over the flagpole at the end of that level. I tried for about 2 hours this afternoon and I could not get over the flagpole no matter what.

I'm pretty sure they nixed it.
I made it to the minus world for the first time this fall (I found an NES at a thrift store for a buck :) )....much more boring than I'd expected. But oh well..just getting there was worth it.

You're friend was making it up. The only way to get over the flagpole is with a gamegenie, and then the world goes on forever just like minus world but not underwater. But they fixed this in the all-stars edition as well.
So he was lying about that too.

WTF is minus world anyway? How the hell do you get to it?

It's a glitch. If you crouch, jump and lean into the wall while standing on the warp tube at the end of the dungeon part of 1-2, you'll be drawn into the wall and sent to a water level with no end. It's a bit tricky.

Why would you want to go to water world with no end? The water worlds are awful.

I had my NES on for 3 days trying to see if there was an end. :( I gave up. :(

How did you do it for three days? Did you use a Game Genie to turn the timer off?

Well it's the same level, just looped over and over, and no it's not really cool once you're there. Going there is cool, but once you're there it's kind of a bummer. I talked to my pal about this Allstars thing but the dumbass is stickin with his "jumped over the pole" crap.
For those of you who've never gotten to the minus world, here's what you do:
Play level 1-2 and make sure that you're Super Mario when you get to the pipe that leads up to the steps and the pole and stuff. Stand on the edge of the pipe and knock out the 3rd and 2nd blocks to the left of the pipe. Stand on the edge of the pipe and while crouching, keep jumping backwards and hitting the back of your head against the remaining block. If you do it right, you'll get sucked into the wall. Head down the first pipe. Knock yourself out playing the least fun level of the whole game over and over until the time runs out.
