my dad passed away last tuesday afternoon. :( he was 51. :(

he was diagnosed with hodgkin disease 15 years ago. he was given only 2 years to live but fought and lived on for another 15 years with family support and good spirits. he was the strongest guy i've ever known, even if he wasn't my father and i knew him, i'd still think he was stronger than anyone who's ever lived. he was admitted into the hospital few days before thanksgiving due to pneumonia. his health then deteriorated and he was put on life support for a week and half. last monday all of us, including the doctor, had a meeting, to talk about the options, whether to keep going with operations, nurse care, a machine breathing for him, etc. with a slim chance of improving or to give it up and die with dignity. he had decided he's had enough and we all agreed to let him go. we believed it was the right choice to end the lengthy suffering he's gone through. he was taken off life support and breathed on his own the next 24 hours. my immediate family, my mom and two sisters, and i were with him when we saw him take his last breath. we were relieved to see him go peacefully.

during his ordeal in the hospital, one night, i had a dream of my dad and myself when i was little and we were at the beach. my dad loved the beach. he would ask me to swim across the ocean to a tidal bank, which was half mile away. i was too afraid. my dad then jumped into the water and swam half a mile to the tidal bank, he had made it. i thought to myself, if he could do it, so can i. so i jumped in, swam half a mile to the tidal bank and made it. he's alway been my guide and helped me to get over my fears. i've alway felt safe with him. now that he's gone, whenever i'm faced with a frightful situation, i'd think of my dad. here's to you, dad. :beer :tear

my dad was known as a big prankster so he would alway tell us that he's been cured but we all knew that it wasn't true and he was still sick. he didn't want us to worry and wanted us to live and let live without feeling sorry for him. he hated that shit.

speaking of my dad being a prankster, this one time when i was little, my sister and i were taken to an convienence store by one of my dad's co workers from hostess cakes and wonder bread. inside there was a man dressed up as twinkie the kid passing out twinkies and cupcakes. i hadnt had a clue who was the man inside the suit and i used to be so terrified of the costumes like the one he was wearing. everytime he would come closer to me, i would scream and run to hide behind my sister, using her as a shield. it went on until his shift had ended. we went out in the back of the store, the man in the costume had taken off his head gear, it turned out to be my dad. he looked at me and started laughing. i laughed and laughed and punched my dad in the gut and yelled at my sister for not telling me that it was my dad inside the suit the whole time. we went on and ate what was left over, afterwards.

Geggy-

Sorry to hear such bad news. I have not been on speaking terms with my father for a few years now, but I finally took the first step towards making amends this holiday season. I know if something like this happened, I would feel horrible, since we haven't talked for so long. Unfortunately, my attempts have so far fallen through.

It is nothing compared with your loss. I hope our condolences help, if only a little.

SAY, WHAT IF NEWTYPE HAS SOME KIND OF REALLY BAD CANCER OR DEGENRATIVE NERVE DISORDER AND HE DOESN'T KNOW IT YET?!? BUT, THEN, SEE, HE FINDS OUT, AND AFTER A WHILE HE DIES? BUT FIRST IT REALLY, REALLY HURTS ALL THE TIME? AND HE LINGERS AT DEATHS DOOR TILL EVEN HIS OWN RELATIVES CAN'T LOOK HIM IN THE EYE? AND THEN HE GETS A COLOSTOMY AND BED SORES AND PRAYS FOR DEATH FOR ABOUT A MONTH BEFORE FINALLY HE DIES SO SLOWLY IT'S HARD FOR EVEN THE DR'S TO TELL THE MOMENT HE DIES?

LAUGHING EMOTICONS BY THE DOZEN!!!

Is that what you had in mind?

thanks for the sympathies and saying kaddish for my dad.

everyone, do me a favor, it would make my xmas a little better if you gave your dad a hug and told him how much you love him, even if you're on bad terms. the love for your dad should be unconditional and if he treats you lousy, you should love him, anyway. :(
and your mom, too. :(
and everyone else. :(
except for newtype. :(

I'm sorry to hear about your loss, I too know the pain of loosing a loved one as my father died the day after 9/11.
As for newtype, you had better not give out any information that would clue me in to your identity, cause I'm gonna take you down as soon as possible.

Newtype had posted several other stupid posts before that one that I had deleted, and then the dumbfuck private messaged me (quite obviously the only moderator on at the time) and wanted to know if I was the one doing it. What a dumbass.

Then he said that being a jerk was fun and wanted to know why I was deleting his messages. I told him he answered his own question.

Anyway, he apparently lives about 10 minutes away from me so I'm sure I could go kick his ass if you want. I think he's still in high school so it'd be kinda weird beating the shit out of a kid, but in a fun way, you know?

It's okay as long as you don't get off from it. It's in the Bible.

Again, sorry about what happened, Geggy.

I'm within 30 minutes of Richmond, I'm still in high school, and I'd be more than willing to beat the stupid out of the dude.

Seriously.

And I'm very sorry to hear about your loss geggy. I'll give my dad a hug sometime soon. :(

saying "im sorry" probably won't do alot for you, but for what it's worth, i'm sorry to hear of this. wen my mom died (although they were somehow able to revive her later on) everything about me was a wreck. i went through a couple packs of cigarettes that day, and called up everyone i knew and told them i loved them.

we're all with you.

Geggy...

I am terribly sorry about your Dad. He sounds like he went on fighting to the bitter end. That says a lot about the kind of character he had. I am sincerely sorry about your loss. :( I wish you and your family all the best.

Evil Robot...

My friend buried her Mom on 9/11. It was a very sad day all around. I sympathize with you both on the loss of one of your parents. I can't even imagine how terrible that would be.

I am sad for you both. :(

Holy fucking fuck. That sucks, Geggy. I can't imagine how I would feel if my dad died. It would probably turn my world upside down. It's probably turned your world upside down. That fucking sucks really fucking bad.

Spooky, if this question is too personal, you don't have to answer. What do you mean they revived your mom after she died?

I'm so glad I have a good relationship with my dad hand he's in reasonably good condition for a 55 year old man, other than a medium sized gut.

Awwww Geggy, I am so, so sorry. ::::::::hugs::::::: I've been through it too many times myself over the past couple years......I lost my grandpa this past January, and in 2001 I lost my mom and my little sister 10 days apart from each other. So believe me, I know how much it hurts. I know there's not a whole lot I can do to help, but if you want, I'm always here to lend an ear if you want or a shoulder to cry on. You can PM or email me if you just want someone to talk to, ramble on about things, anything. Just don't keep your emotions bottled up at a time like this, it's the worst thing you can possibly do. I'll say a prayer for your dad tonight before I go to bed. God bless, and I hope that you are coping okay.
