Well there's that, but there are also plenty of "unattainable" girls the 29-year-old virgins meet in real life.

Yes, but plenty of those girls actually ARE unattainable.
Hell, I've liked my fair share of unattainable girls. I always ended up liking the ones who were way out of my league and wouldn't deign to acknowledge my existence.

Dec 14th, 2003, 08:45 PM
That's the problem, dude. Like the ones IN your league, it's alot easier that way.
Perndog
Dec 14th, 2003, 08:50 PM
The problem is believing that they're out of your league. If they won't have anything to do with you, either a) you don't suit their tastes, which means they probably aren't your type either, or b) you did something stupid to scare them away. In case a), don't bother in the first place or put on a facade to make them interested. In case b) next time remember not to do that again. Any other instance (aside from celebrities and internet girls) where you think a girl is unattainable is just from a lack of self-esteem, unless you really are a lowlife, which I don't think is true.

I really do think there are leagues. But I still suffer from self-esteem problems though, even though I'm taking steps to change everything about myself I never liked (I'm going to the gym and I'm not ashamed of my body anymore...that was always the biggest factor in my low self-esteem), but I'm finding that those old feelings still linger somewhat, even when there is little or no reason for them to remain. I think I've gotten so used to feeling this way that it's difficult to figure out how else to feel about myself.
Still, progess is being made, I feel more comfortable talking to girls than ever before and I am slowly starting to accept the idea that when a girl keeps looking at me from across the room it might be because she's interested rather than just thinking I'm very strange. It's slow going, but I'm gaining more and more confidence all the time.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that I don't really know what the hell I'm talking about when it comes to girls, but in my perception, there ARE leagues.

Seriously, I did. We've been together for about a year.

I believe we should add an 11th commandment to the list:
"Do not ever heed advice, even if it's worked for someone else in the same predicament."
Dammit Proto, just do a search there, pick out the screennames of the ones you like, and add them to your AIM list. Then talk to them and see if it's the same person (it often is). What the hell do you have to lose?

Seriously, when I was 16 I thought I was going to be a virgin into my late twentys. But with the power of the internet, I'm 17 now and have found the most wonderful person in the world to me. Thanks to the INTERNET.

I agree that some people are better than others, particularly in a romantic-interest sense, but I also firmly believe that you can improve. Meaning, "out of your league" is not unattainable if you can raise yourself to her [real or perceived] level.
The best way to raise yourself up is to learn how to play the game--and it is a game, until you're actually in a relationship. Learn how women work and how to draw them in (ask guys who are notorious players what they do). Playing it totally straight may be admirable and may work on occasion, but if you can get to the point where a woman is really interested in you, the ends justify the means; I don't think it's wrong to be a little artful in the beginning as long as you treat her right once you've got something established.

You mean like in that episode of "Family Guy" where Peter becomes Death? Where there's a flashback and Death is screwing someone in the back seat of a car? You mean like that?

Juliet wasn't a virgin when she died...she and Romeo got it on before he had to run out of town.
And she wasn't 29, she was like 15. :lol
