I don't have an "actual" DVD player, I have one in my computer.

I am considering getting one, and since plug space is limited, then hopefully I can kill two birds with one stone.

If you mod your Xbox you don't need the remote. If you get an Xbox and don't mod it you're wasting your money. But as a DVD player it works fine I guess - I never noticed any problems.

go to www.xbox-scene.com i believe you can atually get it without a mod chip...of course it seems pretty damn troublesome to set up.


there are so many cool things you can do with a modded x-box, like emulators and media players and such. I want one :(

Actually man I think there's a certain chip you can get that you don't have to solder to the board - so you can take it off if you want to go online. A pain in the ass for sure, but at least the option is still there. This was like 6 months ago though - there might be better options now. There's a soldier-less chip with a switch that you can flick to deactivate the chip for when you go online. They can't make a chip that 'thwarts' Live, since Live forces you to download updates.
