4. My Morning Jacket - It Still Moves: And I hate alt-country.
3. Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Fever to Tell: A tad short, but a great album despite.
2. Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks: Ranks right up there with Wowee Zowee.
1. Super Furry Animals - Phantom Power: Perfect in every way. Totally blew me the fuck away. Try it if you haven't. Total pop perfection.
Disappointment of the year: Ween's Quebec. Kinda mediocre. :(

Royal is the asshole on the board with good taste. I thought the music forum was hella good when you were around, because we could discuss good shit and you weren't a bitch about discrepancies.

Evanesence lowers his credibility. And Bjork. And Tom Waits.

I like Bjork...but Evanescence?!

Well, I'm pretty biased in the sense that my definition of good tastes requires that one realizes the utter brilliance of either the Velvet Underground or Can.

Dec 21st, 2003, 04:34 PM
Well, VU rules (obviously), but I haven't heard enough Can to pass judgement.

And Tom Waits.
You know, I didn't use to think you were that bad. But now you're on the same level as RT as far as I'm concerned. Who the fuck are you to judge people's taste you snotty asshole?

Dec 21st, 2003, 06:56 PM
Aw, c'mon, man. You've never passed judgement on somebody's taste?

I have, but I don't go around saying shit like "ME AND [ insert other names here ] ARE THE ONLY ONES HERE WITH TASTE"
Drew Katsikas

I tend to judge other people's tastes, but I don't let them know about it. This is the first time, boo hoo. I'll continue not yelling at other people for liking bad music, even if it is made by a guy with a pseudo-deep voice and fake beatnik stories. Notice I never post in the music forum to bash things, but merely to suggest music I think is good to others and such. I slipped up, oh snap.
EDIT: but I don't let them know about it. unless it's evanesence or something that's blatantly crap.

I don't listen to enough to make a list, but I think The Shins - Chutes Too Narrow should be in this thread somewhere.

Chutes Too Narrow rules...it's probably in the top 10. Oh, Inverted World was better though.

Yeah, I'm with SolidSnakeASS. I pretty much listen to just old stuff, so I'm pretty dated. :/
However, although critics blasted it, the new Belle & Sebastian is fuckin great. I don't care what people say, I loved it.
The new Cat Power was okay, too. Oh, and that new Neil Young album was decent.

Drew... listen to Selmasongs by Bjork. It might change your mind on her.

Step Into My Office, Baby was one of the best songs of the year. As for the album...it was better than Fold Your Hands Child, at least.

It got very mixed reviews.

Yeah, I saw a lot of nasty reviews, but B&S ask for that sometimes, often being perceived as a highly pretentious band.....
I'm a fan of "I'm a cuckoo."

"Yeah, I saw a lot of nasty reviews, but B&S ask for that sometimes, often being perceived as a highly pretentious band....."
Well... they are. But their music is great so I just ignore it.
"Step Into My Office, Baby was one of the best songs of the year. As for the album...it was better than Fold Your Hands Child, at least."
Why does everyone hate the fourth album? Honestly, it's amazing, it just doesn't reveal itself as fast as the other ones; I wouldn't say it's their best (their first two are unbeatable), but it's a really great album.
