Evil Robot

About a year ago I was walking down a trail smoking a bowl with two other people when a glint of shinyness from under a bush caught my eye. I worked myself into the prickers to discover this flashlight. Nothing out of the ordinary, it was a good two D cell light with live batteries in it. I noticed it had the words "W.T.C. Fire Saftey" engraved across it. Being that I found it in westchester county (just north of NYC) and the fact that I found it about 500 feet from a fire station, I assumed it meant "Westchester Training Center".
I was carusing the internet for god knows what (I forgot what the hell I was looking for) when I saw my flashlight on the Museum of American History's website. It turns out that it stands for "World Trade Center". This flashlight was issued to one person on each floor whos responsibilty it was to make sure everybody gets out during a fire.
This really puzzles me as to why the hell somebody tossed it into the woods behind a fire station. (out of anger or sorrow perhaps?)

This isn't my flashlight but it looks exactly like it except mine has a bit more dirt on it from being outside so long
