"Richmond, Virginia: With a population of 1 million, the Richmond metropolitan has all of the problems one associates with a big city, but none of the perks. Roughly four times the size of Green Bay, Richmond can’t sustain a major sports team in a state with no other pro franchises. Its apathetic population didn’t even support its ABA team, the Virginia Squires, which boasted Rick Barry and Dr. J.

Due largely to its ranking of ninth in the nation in per capita murders, Richmond is a victim of white and middle class black flight. A model of urban decay that only the Bush Regime could be proud of, Richmond boasts some of the nation’s most depressing ghettoes.

While many cities have fallen into disrepair, the thing that really sets Richmond apart is its nightlife. Virginia’s draconian liquor laws force most clubs to close at 2 am, with last call at 1:30. That doesn’t pose that much of a problem, since you wouldn’t want to stay at any Richmond club any later than 2am, anyway. Richmond nightlife is divided between fratboy and ghetto. It’s not uncommon so see a young black woman tarnish her natural beauty with a mouth full of gold teeth or an outlandishly styled weaves. White women tend to be the bottle blonde variety, whose fashion tastes run the gamut from Abercrombie & Fitch to the Gap. Painfully unimaginative, the uniform for male club goers consists of Dockers and golf shirts or clownish “urban” gear; depending on which camp they fall into, with the occasional tobacco chewing redneck or pimp-suited playa thrown in for good measure. These people will be your company for a night filled with poorly mixed, MTV approved hip-hop, or Dance Hits USA house music.

Everything above was separated black/white, because everything in Richmond is. Richmond deals with race, by not dealing. Separate but equally lame. That’s Richmond, VA."

I concur, our wonderful Richmond is a joyous piece of shit. I mean, how many murders have we had this year? I think we're near, if not above, 100 so far. It's just a piece of crap place to live.

Wow! I sure am glad I spent a few years in a small town that depended on just one factory which produced (yes, past tense) fabric used in American cars! It sure was great when Guilford Mills decided that it would be best for everybody if American products were made in mexican factories! Man, you never seen a more beutiful town then one that has 3000 people wandering around looking for work in one of the 24 other local busineses that were on the brink of colapse themselves! It sure was great going to one of the 3 bars and "partying" with all the people who had no idea how they could ever support thier families since most of them owned homes and could not sell them in time to move away.

Boy I sure don't envy you, living in an economicaly stable city, that must be hell knowing that your future is secure and if you loose your job you can find another one! It must suck to live in a city where nobody is walking around in an unconsious sort of live coma, considering that thier worth more dead then alive.

Boy, I sure I glad I don't live in Richmond!

It just pisses me off when people say they hate where they live. I'ts always the people who live in great places. I mean come on, that article basically said that richmond sucks purely because of it's bar scene. I got news for you, Richmond is a pretty damn good place to live compared to all the other economic shit-holes and you should consider yourself lucky to have made your life there.

Obviously you've never had to live in a car before.

Mockery
Dec 24th, 2003, 09:57 PM
Because nobody in Richmond is unemployed and nobody in Richmond has ever lived in their car before! Yeah!

Evil Robot

I'm sure they have, but at least it's not a shit little town that grew dependent on one factory that let everybody down. At least in Richmond you have options.

In Cobleskill, there are no black people. White people commit all the crimes. A while back, two white people robbed a bank during a severe blizzard and made off on snowmobile. Last year somebody wired $750 out of my account to Puerto Rico and the bank did not accept any liability for it. If I were robbed at gunpoint at least I would have seen the person who took my money. (I think it was a dumpster-diver)
Theres not a godamned thing you can say to make me belive that a big city like Richmond is that bad. Oh, poor baby, there are violent blacks and frat boys at bars. Boo freakin hoo.

That sounds EXACTLY like Winnipeg and I think everyone else would agree.

You don't come across as the type of person who would be concerned about the bar closing at 2:00 AM anyway. :/

I'd be more concearned about the bar not filling for chapter 11

It's ok, robot. If it makes you feel any better, I won't argue that you have it worse off then me.
