My mom had one of her kidneys removed and was heavily medicated (Morphine) and she tells me that one night she remembers listening to a Dolly Parton concert and commented to the nurse in the morning that she enjoyed it very much, the nurse said " Oh I remember you telling me that last night but I didn't have the heart to change the chinese music concert that was on the t.v. so I left it.

i went through the same thing with Kylie Minogue.

when my mom was diagnosed with terminal cancer, she was under home hospice care. we gave her tons of morphine for the pain. she had a morphine pump where she could hit a button and give herself an intravenous shot of the stuff (it was on a timer, so she couldn't od if she hit the button too many times). anyways, she was so loopy that she barely knew who i was and would often call me mom.

she did, however, say some funny shit.

one day, she had a moment of clarity. she snapped out of her drug induced slumber, looked at me and said, "karen, why in the hell am i wearing a diaper?"

also, somebody had sent her a stuffed bunny for easter. it came with some flowers or something (she hated getting flowers). anyways, we had this bunny at the foot of her bed. one day i was getting ready to give her some meds and she looked at me and said "could you please get that doberman pincer off my bed?" and she pointed towards the bunny. yup.
