According to the NLRA, employers cannot force their employees to leave unions, because that would be unfair labor practice - but he can force his employees to join unions.
Talk about the plight of the worker.

This might shock many of you, but I am actually very pro-union.
This just happens to be one of those details I don't like. Union shops force all employees to join. They are protected by New York State law.
I understand that unions main power lies within their numbers and that anyone who leaves puts a serious dent, but should this really be protected by law? What if your local is on the company payroll or corrupt in some other way (like when I worked as a teamster)? Shouldn't a person have the right to speak on their own behalf?
