I think the PS has always had better controllers. They're easier to use. For me, anyway.

PS Dual Shock was the best controller. It will never be beaten.
...well, depending on how many features you need I guess. SNES is still great but no analog leaves it out of the running.

PS Dual Shock is gay. It's tiny and the analogs are right in the way and constantly getting nudged.

if most games these days use analog why would you have it where the ps puts them? I own all three systems, and i liek my xbox controllers best(small), except maybe for the wavebird ones for gc.
With I wish i could get some old nes controllers on my xbox considering all the emulators and shit. I also need 4 arcade controllers. :(

Yeah. We have a PS2 as well.
For analog, I like the XBox Type S controllers waaaay over any other console's. In addition to the placement and bulkiness of the dual shock's analogs, they're not very responsive and have a wide range of physical motion that ultimately seems to either go really slow or really fast. But as regular controllers go, I lean toward a PS1 controller.
I think it goes without saying that of the next-gen consoles, Gamecube's default controller is the shittiest. But then again, ever since the 64, Nintendo has excelled at manufacturing clunky, gay peripherals.

Gamecube is my favorite. Fits the hand like no other. My only problem is the ridiculous ratio to size of the A and B buttons.
DamnthatDavid
Jan 24th, 2004, 03:56 AM
Agree...
But I love the Original X-Box large controllers. My hands fit it perfectly.
Gamecube and PS2 are to small for me. And I busted my dual shock. They just don't have the strength like the X-Box.

Alright you weiners. The different controllers are better for different things.
xbox-fps and third person shooters
ps2-sports and action
gc-platformers and action
It pretty much depends on what kinda games you like. I like the Big-ass xbox controller the best for fps and I like the controller s for just about everything else.

Exactly.
The original xbox ctroller sucks. Its like playing with a fucking brick.
The wavebird controllers are so cool though, sure they have a medicore analog control(still gives more control than the ps2 analog) and the buttons are still fucked up, but they have such a great range and work so damn well.
If you have a gc I highly recommend them.

Yeah same here. :(
Anyway you are all missing the point. In my original controller thread we decided that the original NES controller was the best ever because of its indestructible design and adaptablity. Then we decided that the Xbox controller S is best next-gen contoller because of its precise design and top notch analog quality.
The POINT of this thread was that the retro controller is the best because it combines the qualities of the two best controllers ever.
Unfortunatley every yahoo with enough IQ to hit the reply button decided to bore us with assanine facts like: I am a eight foot seven genetic defective with hodgkins disease as well as Lupus causing me to have extremely large hands with 4 extra fingers and 3 extra bones in my thumb and therefore the dreamcast controller is the best ever because it fits me perfectly. :(

I prefer Gamecube's Hori Controller (http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?category=75&products_id=2467&) best, to be honest. The Gamecube's controller is okay but the L and R buttons are way too clunky. The best controller ever is, was, and always will be, Playstation's Dual Shock. It was a bit uncomfortable at first, with the two analog sticks, but you get used to it. You don't even notice them after a while.

I'm always unintentionally hitting the right analog when playing SD5 and mashing to get out of pins, apply submission moves, etc.

Nerd, the problem with your favorite GC controller is that there is no c-stick, which means that many games are not compatible with it.
DamnthatDavid
Jan 24th, 2004, 11:43 PM
Most fighting games do not require C stick, and they are easier to play with a D-Pad and not a joystick.
Now, if only Nintendo HAD some more fighting games.

There are very few arcades around ANYWHERE anymore. It's just that an arcade stick seems to work better for many games.

It also doesn't have an anolog stick, which means even more games don't work with it. But a few games would really be better off playing with the D-Pad rather than the Analog Stick (Resident Evil and Viewtiful Joe, for example) meaning this controller is much better than the normal one. It's really comfortable and It's my favorite out of all of them.

I dunno guys, I'm not much of a window shopper for controllers, I find it best to use the ones that came with the system.
May if some of you work more time with your hands other than masturbating and video games like manual labor, maybe you can get you fragile hands to full grasp and handel a god-damn peice of plastic.
But what do i know, I'm just a fucking n00b.

Don't hold your breath. The only Resident Evil that may not be exclusive to the GC is RE4, but even that in unknown.Untill their contract expires. No game is binding to a system forever. (RE4 is exclusive to gamecube upon its release by the way, the others will be ported before that ever will.)
And I am with ProfCool, the packaged controllers are perfectly fine. Its not like you will be the envy of all your friends over a mutated controller.

Kind of like how Code Veronica was supposed to be exclusive to Dreamcast? As much as I hate to say it, it probably one day be ported. Just the thought makes me want to grab a random Capcom employee and toilet dunk him.

For god's sake, I just said it would. I was saying that they will all eventually be ported, not that none of them will you idiot. And I said on release, after its initial releas it will be ported. But GC will have it to itself for a while though.

The standard Xbox controller fits me pretty nicely since I was already used to Dreamcast before I got my Xbox.
