View Full Version : DEAN DISSAPOINTS

Dean can fire his campaign manager if he wants, though I personally thinks it's a mistake. It's who he hired to replace him that bothers me.
" Neel, Gore's former senatorial and vice presidential chief of staff, served as chief executive of the U.S. Telecom Association in Washington before working on Gore's 2000 presidential campaign. "
A friggin' lobbyist. I am very disapointed.
Now I'm on a fence. Originally I was a Kerry supporter, but his vote to authorize the war pissed me off, so I became a Dean supporter. Deans taking a lobbyist into the fold isn't as bad, but it's damn disapointing from someone who's strongest appeal was his resistnce to moneyed special interest groups.

I don't think it matters anyway, since Dean is fucked. He lost New Hampshire and Iowa.

See, I don't think that's means it's over. It could be over on Tuesday, but it certainly isn't over now, and canning tippi nd replacing him with a washington machine weasel smells like a Hail Mary pass to me which is as good as giving up, which makes me mad.
Luckily for me, I've been a huge Kerry fan for years (He tried to blow the whistle on the CIA's drugs for weapons thing two years before Iran Contra) and if it hadn't been for his bizarre endorsement of W's wild ride I'd have been in his camp all along.

You're right. It isn't over till the fat lady sings. However, Dean's chances of winning seem rather slim. Besides, in my opinion, I think Kerry is more "electable" than Dean.
Dean really fucked himself with that screaming thing.

I think he wanted Trippi to step down to like media coordinator or something, and Trippi prefered to just ride off into the sunset.
The Dean situation is sad. It's believed that the "I have a scream" speech in Iowa cost him New Hampshire. Some of the things you always hear people bitching about is that politics is boring, fake, lacks passion, is corrupt, etc.
So this guy shows passion, shows energy and determination, and gets pigeon holed as the "angry" candidate. It just further proves my point that Americans are the most fickle people on the planet....

See, the screaming thing didn't bother me in the least, although it is a funny clip. I thought he looked far more like a human being than W. has ever looked at any point.

It was a pretty girly scream....
EDIT: His speech after finishing second in N.H. was excellent. I try not to get drawn in by any of these characters anymore, but I'll admit he had me. Okay, I cried. :tear

What do you expect from a vegan?
Anyway, I don't think his new campaign manager is a big deal. As much as people want it avoided, a candidate needs some insider savy. A babe in the woods isn't going to get anything done. Sure, he won't be so easy for the special interests to push over, but how is he going to get all his promises fufilled?
Its all a moot point for Dean anyway.

Right now it's all I can do to keep from making a joke using the word 'vegan' and a female body part word.

the dean scream cracks me up.
on our local, VERY CONSERVATIVE, talk radio station they do this bit every single day where they say, "hey howard dean, how's the weather in cleveland today?"
and then the scream.
it cracks me up everytime.
even though i HATE the radio station.

It's just funny, in any context. Frankly it made me like him more.
Then he hires a friggin' telecom lobbyist.

So this is what counts as your incisive sense of humour? I was expecting something sharper from the the saviour of Iraq.
Shit, I keep forgetting you're a cowardly fat-ass. I was wrong to have high expectations.

Dean is done. Stick a fork in him.
And from Bush's perspective, that isn't a good thing. A Kerry/Edwards ticket would be much harder to beat than Dean/Whoever.

I didn't get an opportunity to hear Dean's Iowa speech or the scream or anything. I saw a bit of it replayed at the gym, but it was closed captioned and I couldn't hear it without headphones. Does anybody know of a place where I can download either the speech or maybe just the scream? I'd really like to hear it.
And I agree about Kerry having a strange head. I just don't know if I could vote for a man like that.

I can't believe Vinth bothered to chime in for that. I mean, why bother? Espcially since the easy mark that meat line was had already been pointed out. Lame and redundant, after all the time away, why even bother clicking on 'reply' and wagging his fat little fingers long enough for... that?
Every time Vinth has been as sad as I think it's possible for him to be, he gets sadder.
Hey! That's a reason right there.
Silly me.

That link didn't work, but I found an mp3 of about 10 seconds of the speech with the scream in it. That's one funny sounding scream.

The link only works if you have a bit-torrent client installed.

Pull the string and he gives the speech. Poor Dean. The guy is just passionate. At least he cares unlike W...

I finally saw the speech, and the only wierd thing about it was that funky battle cry. It just seemed way too out there. Aside from that, he was just getting the crowd fired up.

OW!!
Q: You brought in somebody from Washington D.C. who was in the Clinton White House, promised he wouldn't go to work as a lobbyist, then immediately went to work as a lobbyist. He is a quintessential Washington insider, admired by a lot of people in the party. But doesn't that change the whole DNA of the Howard Dean campaign?
A: …We did bring in Roy Neel, and I think he is going to do a great job, former President Clinton's deputy chief of staff, Al Gore's chief of staff.
Q: Now a telecommunications lobbyist.
A: Who never lobbied and kept faith with his ethics pledge, I might add.
What's Dean trying to do, make me feel better about Kerry? Of course, Kerry just got caught lying about wether or not he'd ever met a special interest lobbyist who gave hoim a bucket of money.
What the hell is wrong with these people? Why is it SO hard for a politician not to be a sleazebag?
