Bobo, if you trade in that Warwick, I'll have to kill you. That is a fuckin' beautiful bass, and they don't call it a Corvette for nothin'. Save your money and buy the other one straight up.
Dole, my old drummer used that pedal, too. I'm not a drummer, and even I thought it was sexy. DW makes great gear. :rock.

but now I play this:
http://www.sylpher.com/helm/lespaul.gif
Although I've fitted EMG active pickups on it.
I like my drapes.
I play through a Crybaby, a bespeco volume pedal, a few distortion pedals (ibanez SM7 is my main one), a zoom 1010 multieffect, then an equaliser rack and to a 30 w yahama practise amp. In studio I play on a Marshall combo because that's what they have. I have an ibanez fretless bass I can't take a picture of, and some midi keyboards also. A shure 57 mic, a 4 track, lots of freakin' cables!

"any kit with more than 5 pieces and more than one bass drum pedal is strictly for homos."
-thank you for that reasoned, well thought out argument.
I am HAPPY TO BE A HOMO if it means using a dbp. You're probably saying what you said cos you cant use one.
I use a tama rockstar also...pretty good so far.

:lol Actually, I said it because I think it's absolutely unnecessary. I think some of the best (in my opinion) drummers have played with smaller sets. I've seen way too many crap drummers use 6 rack toms and a double bass pedal as a crutch and think that they're really rockin' when the most complex fill they do are descending runs.
Personally, I used one once and as I opined, completely unnecessary. I can play sixteenth notes with my right foot, up to a certain tempo and for a certain amount of time (which is just a matter of conditioning), anything faster than that I can use the floor tom in conjunction with the bass and still have my left foot free to tap out a rhythm on the high hats.

I believe that Buddy Rich only played on a three piece set most of the time :/ Skill level does play a part in how many pieces but really it's all preference in what style music and what sounds you want to put out. You don't go out and buy a cow bell because it will make your set too big?
Dole

I use it sparingly, mostly for fills. not constant metal duggaduggadugga type stuff. I used a double for about 7 years, then back to single for a few years, and have now switched back to double. There are some things you just cant do with a single, particularly when playing with a hardcore band.
I am with you on toms, I only use one rack and a floor. Thats all you need.

Why do you have a blanket in your drum?
agroskaterik
Feb 29th, 2004, 03:47 PM
Its a pillow, and i dont really have a reason. It did absorb some of the bass, but then i took off the bass drum head to make the bass more powerful, and now the pillow is just kind of in there.
Its been in there for well over a year. :/

adding a blanket to your bass drum makes it less boomy, which unless you play for a band called RATICUS, you wouldnt want... (props to Rog for that awesome joke from dead alive movie feature)
