I have often thought about playing MMORPGs online, but with the wide variety available, I don't know which game to spend my hard earned dollars on. Does anyone have any suggestions? I would prefer a game with these features:
1. PvP combat. I should be able to kill people, and they should be able to kill me.
2. An economy that makes sense. I shouldn't be able to aquire superweapons easily.
3. A game community not populated primarily by retards. I don't want to play a game where the only dialogue between players consists of: "LOL U R a Fag!!1!" and "ADAMANT 4 SALE!!"
Or should I even bother wasting my money? Are these games fun, or are they just great big financial vacumes?

I researched into upcoming games, World of Warcraft looks the best out of Middle Earth Online, and the Matrix Online Game.

honestly, there's too many retards on the internet for a MASSIVELY multiplayer online RPG to be any good :( if they were to have online rpgs with like a limit of 32 players at a time, that might be better :(

The best part in MMORPG is killing the idiots though.
Always join the PVP server.

I've always been into MMORPGs. I've tryed most of them but currently I only play 3. EQOA, UO and DA.
If you are into PVP which is all the rage, Ultima Online, Asheron's Call, Shadowbane, and Dark Age of Camelot are good choices.
UO there are two worlds unlike back in the day but if you stay in Fellucca like I do, then you are bound to run into trouble. Next month is ethereal swamp dragon time for me (60 months, would've been before but I suspended a few times).
Asheron's Call is fun on the PVP server Dark Tide. The action is a little faster than most and it seems more like you are in control of what is happening. However the problem tends to be that to make a character that is good at pvp, you pretty much have to be like everyone else aside from the equipment you use. They fixed that a little bit though.
Shadowbane is all about Guild vs Guild and seiging combat. I haven't played since beta but it was enjoyable.
Dark Age of Camelot. Well you can go about PVP different ways. Alot of it is Realm vs Realm combat if you are on a normal server. Pretty fun but it seems that Midgard was outnumbered alot of the time. Depending on who is on from your realm, this can either be alot of fun or just frustrating.

I've heard good things about Dark Age of Camelot. I'm not sure about UO though. I've heard EA has done much to dismantle the PvP system and practically destroyed the game's economy. I do not know if this is true or not. I've never heard of Shadowbane. I'll have to look into it. Thanks for your input.

They are making a new expansion to add to pvp. They haven't really said anything about it. It used to be alot better back in the day but it's still fun to play and they are fixing alot of the issues. At least now, bugged items and exploits are actually dealt with.

Final fantasy 11 looks the best right now. Im getting it for ps2 and looking for some cool people to play with that arent idiots. Some person just starting out like me would be cool.

I'll agree with David; World of Warcraft looks like it's gonna rule over the MMORPG kingdom once it's released.
