I might be taking a long driving trip soon and I've alway's wanted to make some CD's that's great to listen to while driving. Any suggestions? I'm also looking into a DAB player (anybody got one?)

I prefer Steppenwolf's greatest hit's for a game of cards. Either that or Jet. The worse, the better.

Neil Young, specifically Harvest, After the Gold Rush, and On the Beach, is also a good idea.

And some Weezer.

The only thing a Greatful Dead cd is good for is curing insomnia or using the CD as a coaster.

i make mix cds of all my faves when i'm takin long road trips. that or i let my boyfriend pick out the tunes. i like spontaneity when i'm driving and i also like listening to stuff i haven't heard before when i'm on the road.

after about the fourth hour, sometimes i'll tune into static. helps me relax.

Lots of irony in that statement, coming from a guy who just suggested Willie Nelson.

And not every Grateful Dead song sounds like Sugaree.

If you like static, you'll love Metal Machine Music!

Seriously, check it out. By Lou Reed.

I never said every song sounds like Sugaree. All I'm saying is that the dead suck balls and I piss on Jerry's grave.

Have you heard Workingman's Dead or American Beauty? If not, shut the fuck up, shot yourself in the face, and then download "Box of Rain."

Rongi
Feb 29th, 2004, 07:56 PM
How can I shot myself in the face?

And if I'm dead, how can I download a song? Maybe you should have said "Shut the fuck up, download Box Of Rain, and shoot yourself in the face", Timmy.

That sentence makes no sense

i :love zappa and the dead. so there.

when we used to go on family vacations, my dad didn't like to stop for my brothers and me to go to the bathroom. i don't remember who started it or on which trip, but it became a family thing to parody willie nelson when the urge became urgent: "on the commode again, i just can't wait to get on the commode again." :(

That was the point. :lol Do me a favour, shoot yourself in the back of the head execution style and then get a sense of humour.

The Dead are way better than Zappa. Zappa only had like one good album.

I'd make another joke about your screen name in comparison to your taste in music right now, but that'd be like beating a very dead horse.

I'd make another joke about shooting someone shooting themselves in the face, but you'd use a cum-shot. >:

The Dead have 2 masterpieces, there other stuff is fairly medicore. You're a completely fucking moron if you can't appreciate them.

Or maybe I just think the Dead suck fat black cock and that is my opinion and maybe you should stop trying to force your shitty opinion on me and also stop being a nerd, you nerd.

And maybe your sense of humor sucks.

Thank's for the suggestions and I liked the input from Rongi/Bobo and Royal. I'm leaving for a long trip soon and most likely won't be back on the internet for a while (no joke) this time. :)

And out of complete and utter curiosity, why the fuck did you bring Zappa into this? That's like having a conversation about peanuts and than saying "peanuts suck, oranges are better. And lemons are only good for one thing".

If your talking to me, I just brought it up to mock you.

I actually like Frank Zappa. I think he has a lot of good albums. I own Joe's Garage, Overnight Sensation, The Mothers Live at the Fillmore East June 1971, Apostrophe, Jazz from Hell, Absolutely Free, Shut up and Play yer Guitar, and Weasels Ripped My Flesh. All IMO great albums.

I was talking to SSA. And you should get Hot Rats, if you like jazz :)

And Freak Out! is FZ's most overrated album ever. It's great and everything, but he made better albums.

I absolutely fucking love Freak Out. Its just a great 60's rock* record in my opinion....so many fab tunes on there, not completly typical FZ tunes, but fantastic nonetheless.

*edit: that isnt adequate..there is doo-wop on there, rock n roll, psychedelia...

any band that allows you to legally "pirate" *any* live music of theirs and freely share it is a god ammong bands.

Grateful Dead owns you.

Bobo Adobo

Egg - Zactly

And its not like they only let you bring in little DAT recorders into their shows. They actually have tapers sections, so that you can bring in profetional live recording equipment.

Hell I do too. There is not one song on that CD I don't like. It's just that I know a few people who buy Freak Out! and then never give any of his other stuff a fair chance.
