Do any of you motherfuckers have to deal with this evil institution?
These fucking prats take three days to clear a goddamn check, they charge you $25 if you overdraw your checking by $0.01, and for some reason they've allowed a video store to charge $104.98 to one of my accounts THAT WAS ALREADY IN THE NEGATIVE.

What the hell? Where do banks get off fucking with my money like this?
I'm going to stuff my cash in a mattress.

Why is this question directed to the motherfuckers? Non-incestery members have just as legitimate reasons to do business there.

you need to call a news channel with one of those consumer report journalists that go after the nasties of the business world.

I need to call the fucking Massachusetts Attorney General and get into some legal action against Fleet and Holywood Video alike.

Unless someone can direct me to a black market arms dealer...

Most of us who have bank accounts sign things called contracts so we know exactly what we're getting into when we set up the account and therefore have no excuse to whine when they charge overdraft fees. I suggest you find a bank that has contracts instead of saying "sure, we'll take your money."

bank accounts also have these things called "fuck ups" that are not usually in contracts. thats why people get mad when they happen. but who knows. maybe Fleet Bank has up to 4 fuck-ups per month with each account.

ya right.

Why did the Hollywood Video charge you 104.98? Usually video stores dont do that until you've had thier movie or game checked out for a month, they've called you twice and sent you a letter.

Charging a fee for letting your account slip into the red, even if it's one cent, is not a fuck-up, and neither is allowing a video store to charge your account when it's already negative. That would be the video store's fuck-up, unless they had a reason to do it, in which case you signed a contract with them too.

Do you work at the bank, Pern? Banks fuck up allll the time. If I had a quarter for everytime I had problems with bill payments and my bank, Id be slightly richer.

I paid for a friend's rental with my debit card. Shouldn't it be charged to her fucking account, not my card? It's not like my card's linked with her account in any way, I just charged $9 on the spot for the rentals.

Someone get the icepick. I'm gonna have to dig another hole in this dude's skull before he understands.

Banks may fuck up all the time, but not in this case.

three days to clear a goddamn check

That's being slow, not fucking up.

they charge you $25 if you overdraw your checking by $0.01

That's in the contract. It's happened to me twice.

and for some reason they've allowed a video store to charge $104.98 to one of my accounts THAT WAS ALREADY IN THE NEGATIVE.

There's no rule saying charges can't be made on overdrawn accounts, and that was probably in the contract too. If the amount was too much, it's more likely the video store's fault and not the bank's.

If your friend's account has been overdue in the past (or currently for a lengthly amount of time) the video store might have your card information on file with that account. Not only that, but any late charges accrued for anything will automatically go on your card. It's the video store's fault and you'll need to go down there and have your card removed from the file, davinxtk. Even if you've never signed a contract with them. It's always a good idea if possible, to pay cash for those sorts of transactions.

As far as the bank is concerned, I would have to side with pern on this. It matters not how far your account is in the red, unfortunately they will take the charges out unless you go down there and ask that they take them off. I've done that plenty of times until I got overdraft protection. They usually were pretty good about taking the charges back. :)

Good luck.

Growl. Perndog, I never said the bank made any mistakes, you shitwhore. I said the bank fucking sucks, and that I'm sick of the way they fuck with my money. You're the one who's not grasping the conversation here. I'm just bitching and moaning, in case you hadn't noticed.

There's no rule saying charges can't be made on overdrawn accounts, and that was probably in the contract too.
It's a debit account -- any charge made to it while it's in the negative should be declined. Are you not farmiliar with how these things work?

And it's not my account at the video store, it's a friend of mine's. My card should not be linked to it in any way at all. The only charge that should have been incurred on my card was the $9 that I paid -on the spot- for the rental.

(Oh, and for the record: my brilliant friend still has these DVDs at her house.)

Do you have overdraft protection on your debit card? That's the reason you get dinged an extra 25 dollars when you go under your limit and if you get that taken off you wont be able to make any transactions when your broke.

No, you didn't say the bank fucked up, some brainless moron named mesobe did and I felt it was my duty to argue with him.

Why don't you just balance your fucking checkbook so you don't have to worry about the bank screwing you. If the video store charged your card that has nothing to do with the bank and everything to do with the video store. They would be the ones who have to pay the money back, including the overdraft fee.
